Seat Post Receiver Broken

Found broken plastic in my battery compartment. Receiver is broken and parts falling through. Checked the front one and I see it has cracks. Get a flashlight and check yours!

Mine did the same thing. They sent me a new piece to put in the hole. I have not done it yet but need to.

Vexus claims that the carpet has to come up. They say it is not an insert. We will see.

The plastic bushing in the picture above should be 360 degrees, but a piece has broken off. The bushing just drops down into the hole. There is a slight circular ridge of metal or hard plastic that holds it from falling further down. I imagine long needle nose pliers will reach it to pull it out. Will see when the new bushing gets here. I will save the old one as a spare since it is still holding the pedestal in position.

The Ranger bushing replacement kit comes with a wooden dowel to drive the new one in and some adhesive. You have to dig the old one out one piece at a time.
Please post pics of the repair job. My dealer tells me that this is becoming a common warranty claim.

Tim at Vexus did refer to it as a bushing kit, so I suppose that it may come with a wooden dowel like the Ranger kit.

Just checked both of mine and the front one is broken. Mine has broken differently, the bottom completely separated from the sides.

Question for the group. What are the signs and symptoms of a broken bushing, besides obviously seeing one? I'm asking since I have yet been able to remove my backseat/pedestal. Thanks.

Not sure if this is how it happed but I think mine broke removing the seat. My seat was stuck and I pulled on it really hard. That is just my theory.

I see, but before the seat was removed, were there any signs that something was wrong with bushing? I'm asking so that I can identify the signs on my boat, if this were to happen. Tx.

To remove the seat pedestal when stuck, twist them first, then continue to twist as you pull up. The older Ranger ones, had the tab with the button to retract
the tab. Dont know if they still do or not. I can see pulling up hard may fracture the piece. I have had good luck with mine using the twist procedure as I pull up.

If you cannot remove the pedestal then the bushing is broken and the pedestal has dropped too deep and wedged on the metal lip of the housing.
