It is for your lady when you take her out on the boat.

It’s glue. Some reports on the Ranger page say it’s not needed as it fits so tight, and others report it’s needed. The very top of the bushing has a nice area to apply the glue after it is mostly in.

My front pedestal bushing appears to be an earlier version. Though broken it still remains 2/3 to 3/4 still there as you can see in the photo. I super glued a 2” metal C clip to the top of what remains to give it strength so it might last a lifetime. We shall see.

I know this is an older post.
My front insert is broken now.
Vexus has sent me the repair kit. I have a few ideas on how to get the insert out but would like to hear how others have gotten the old broken insert out.

Easy fix guys, I did one on my Ranger a couple of years ago when I had a Ranger. It literally took me 15 minutes. YouTube it. Like I said, if it truly is an insert like Ranger, it is an easy fix.

Use a chisel or a screw driver to get it out. I used an old flat head screw driver and hammer and split it. Then prayed it out in 3 pieces. Cleaned up the old hole, glued and drove in the new insert.

Thanks for the heads up on the youtube video. Looks like Vexus uses the same insert/bushing as Ranger with a different post.

You can use a flat screw driver or smaller chisel to break the insert in half. Once it's split you can work the screw driver around the bushing and get it out. I changed posts because I'm pretty sure jerking the old one out is what cracked it. I purchased a post with the button on the side to retract the catch at the bottom. The insert vexus sent me was not as tight as the factory installed one.
