2018 LEGEND 211R | 250 MERC PROXS
So I read up on this tread. I have 2005 198 with a Yamaha 225hp hpdi. Same
Set up applies for me? 3.5 below pad and a 26 tempest blueprinted and champion cupped by mark?

I will measure Ptp tomorrow. And post my rpm’s, speed, prop, and prop pitch. Water pressure. Full set up on boat
Rid 05 198, what water pressure are you seeing while running 71 and wot?

I’m running like 25psi on my water pressure gauge. So I should try and raise it up some more.

Does anyone have prop recommendations for my 05 champion 198 with a hpdi 225hp. I am
about to purchase 5 degree wedges because I know I will need them.

Yes I do. So it does move the boat. Im looking to try and get some
better numbers and I figure there are some other champ 198 owners with a hpdi that have a good idea on the most optimum prop and pitch for this rig.
I have a power tech prop on the boat. I looks to be a 25p. Im
running 25psi WOT. SOLO 65-68mph. 2 person 60-61mph. I know I need wedges but I’d like to know suggestions on ptp and what guys are running psi wise and how low I can optimumly go. And what is the best prop for this rig.
thanks in advance

65-68 is pretty decent and about the speed most get. Best my 198 has done is 69, but I’m running a 24 tempest (merc motor). You have to keep the bows light on these boats, the new spot lock TM’s and multiple graphs on the bow, will slow them down. I’m 4” deep p2p, but I had to lower it when I put lithiums in.
Whats your rpm’s at WOT and what does that Yami call for? (I can’t remember if it’s 5500 or 6k) The answer will be told with your rpm’s. Higher pitch props aren’t always the answer.

I can only get the boat to turn 5500-5600 rpm’s. I know the motor calls for 5800-6000. It’s jumps out the hole. It’s got an amazing hole shot

I also run a 225 HPDI on a 2008 198. I have a worked 25p Yamaha T1 prop. I also run 67-69mph at 5500-5600 rpms with a moderate load and have excellent hole shot. I do have a gorilla hull, so I have always thought my numbers were really good for the extra weight. I have thought about playing with jack plate height, but I'm really happy with the performance and handling of my boat. I'm operating on the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality. I would like to get my rpms up, but I don't think it's worth the headache. I'd rather be fishing!

This is what I show for my 2007. If this helps.
Yep, according to google, the 2005 hpdi is a 4500-5500 rpm motor, the 2006 is higher. Wedges might help, not much more you do without going too much over the rpm’s. Raising the jackplate would increase RPMs.
if you have 2 people in the boat often, you might pick up some speed going to a 4blade prop, but plan on $700+ to experiment on that one.
I believe they said it was OK to go over a little bit, probably wouldn’t be great to be constantly hitting the rev limiter.
Edit: with the cost and unavailability of motors these days, I’d be trying to keep my motor running as long as possible. Unless you are just wanting a new one.
