    FXR 21 Limited 2021

Trying to help a buddy out. 2021 FXR 21 Limited. Atlas hydro jack plate. Yamaha sho T2 prop and twin 8 foot blades. He is having speed issues. 1 person tourney load. 69.5 mph. Rpms 5900-6000 depending on jakeplate height. We think the boat should run 72-73 realistic. I have heard the T2 need some work. What are you guys running jackplate at and what prop works the best. Any help appreciated.

Tell him to talk to the guys at Steves Custom Props Quitman, TX 903-763-0200. Advised me to go with a balanced and blueprinted 25 Tempest Plus. My FXR 72-73mph.

I think the guy is looking for realistic help. Unless you are flashed running over 7000 rpms, installed the nizmo, running a river with a 10mph current, or just talking out your back side, these numbers are not happening with just a worked prop. I would give you 80mph seeing I'm running 76 with everything stock, right at 6175 rpms

The 21 is realistically a 72 mph boat. Are you trimming all the way out, I have figured out after running a few different FXR that they over trim and you will loose speed. Everyone I've ran has like 80% trim with one person. I the summer heat I have gone up to about 85%, still hitting 74 in 21's, 76 in 20's. I've noticed over trimming will loose 2 - 3 mph. These are 1 person, half tank, tourney load umbers. I'm also running my hydro at 17-18 on my gauge. Manuals 9-10 dots.

He wants on the water numbers, not behind your truck numbers. Lol

My 2022 will not allow me to go above Dot 5 before it over heats after I get on pad?

I’m not sure if you are in a FXR or ZXR but I know for certain some of the ZXRs came at a setting of either 2-3 dots and some came 7-8 dots. Mine was one of the 7-8 dot ones. I asked Skeeter about it to see if they had changed the mounting holes or something and the answer was basically the setting your boat came with it what the engineers thought it should be at. Another thing is I have heard some come with a 12 inch jack plate and some came with a 12 inch and a 2 inch spacer added. Mine came with the spacer and 12 inch added together. Just saying your boat may be one of the boats that came set at 2 or 3 dots and you may reading about someone’s that came at 7-8 dots. So can’t always go by what you see someone else doing even if the boat seems the same.

I'm glad folks are hitting 5900-6000 rpms and getting 69-70 out of their FXRs. My 2020 FXR20 will only hit 5500-5550 rpms and wont get more than 68. I've had it in the shop and they cant find anything wrong. I've gone over it and cant find anything. I am running 3 Ionic 50 ahs, 1 Ionic 125 ah and 1 20 ah Ionic (its for my mega live). Also running a 25t2 prop worked by Mark Croxton.

Did it have the lithiums when you bought it? If not did it run the same before and after lithiums? Yours would not be the first FXR/ZXR to lose performance after adding lithiums. I have heard of more than one doing it. Something about the boat running too flat after taking the weight out of the rear of the boat impacting the performance.
