I put mine just right of the console on the flat spot of my 521 l didn't want to drill a hole in the cap, already had a hole from a previous depth finder by the console, i hear you can put it up front if you have a brushless motor (ghost)

I have a point one mounted under the back lid. Works for GPS and direction, but made special mounting so it is not upside down.
