As a father of two healthy boys, I couldn't even imagine...Please consider reading, sharing and showing your support for this truly remarkable organization!

Each day, 47 children are diagnosed with cancer in the United States, which means more than 17,000 children in the U.S. are diagnosed each year. With each diagnosis, parents of these children are suddenly faced with insurmountable emotional, mental, and financial burdens. But with your partnership, we can help.

The Badger Childhood Cancer Network (BCCN) is a 501(c)3 organization providing family support and financial assistance to patients from infancy to 18 years of age who are in treatment for cancer and life threatening blood disorders at the American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison, WI. Serving upwards of more than 550 families a year, the Badger Childhood Cancer Network’s unique services help supplement patient and family needs at a crucial time in their lives.

Many of the kids Badger Childhood Cancer Network serves travel two hours or more each way for tests, treatments and hospitalization at the American Family Children’s Hospital. Surveys of these families indicate that they experience an average decrease in family income of 40% or more during the first year after diagnosis for cancer, and a lower level of income loss over a much longer period of time in the case of children with chronic disorders like sickle cell disease. This significant loss of income is due in part because frequent treatment protocols require constant care from a parent. A parent must leave work temporarily or permanently to accompany a child to critical appointments and treatments. Travel and meal expenses contribute to the loss of income for many families.

As a critical leader in our community, we invite you to join us at a one of a kind fundraising event. On August 3, 2024, BCCN will partner with local businesses and organizations to host the Fishing for Families Bass Classic on Lake Wisconsin. This unique and exciting eight-hour fishing tournament brings together nearly 200 anglers of all skill levels, numerous spectators and generous volunteers. After the tournament, friends, family and the community are invited to join the tournament participants at Remi’s Thirsty Moose for free food, beverages and raffle drawings. All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Badger Childhood Cancer Network!
