    2021 Phoenix 818 with 175 SHO - prop suggestion

I'm helping a friend that recently purchased this boat. He's only getting about 5,000-5,100 rpms running 60mph. The prop is a worked solas scorpion 23p and the motor appears to be at 4 3/8" ptp. I think it needs to come up to closer to 3.25", but I'm wondering if anyone has a similar setup and what they're running? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

That 23 scorpion is about like a 25 Yamaha T2 prop. That is almost certainly too much prop Scorpion props run 1-2 pitches stiff usually. I would try a 21 scorpion or 23 Yamaha T2.

Way too low, also he needs to have Hydro Tec flash that motor to get the best out of it.

My rig is a 2011 Ranger Z119 with a 200SHO, so not comparing apples to apples. But I did have a similar issue. I was only getting about 5300 rpms at 60-61 with a 23 SHO T2. 22p T1 was 5500 at same speed. I had added a jackplate and was told it was set at 3.5". I measure and it was 4.5". Once I raised it to 3.25", I gained 4-500 rpms and picked up a couple mph.

I think you're on the right track raising the motor, but as others have said in this thread, that Solas may still be too much prop. Test the Solas at a higher setting, and report back. As it turns out, a different prop ran better on my rig, so I am open to selling my 22p and 23p VMAX SHO props if he's looking.

Thanks for the feedback. He's going to try and raise it next week and then see what happens. I'll report back when I get more info.
