Our club had a tournament out of Golconda Marina. on Saturday I noticed that the majority of the guys went up into Lusk Creek followed by a bunch from another club so I decided to make the run to Grand Pierre. Early in the morning I boated two keepers on a spinnerbait. I ran it throught a log jam when I bumped the cover I got bit. Pulled lots of shorts as well.
Later on I switched to flipping and pitching a sweet beaver into shallow cover along the creek banks. I boated three more keepers.
On Sunday the bottom fell out. The fish were simply not there anymore. I think the pool had dropped a couple of inches. I decided to move out the creek mouth and fish the pilings and the wood cover. I boated three more; two shorts and a 4.28 LM bass. All three fish came on the sweet beaver.
I caught 6 keepers and weighed 9.96lbs.
Had a club tourney this weekend out of Golconda. Temps were in the 90s with water temp varying from 81-83. Fish were caught on a buzzbait and spinnerbait in the morning on the main river around wood. As the sun came up I caught my biggest fish on shakeyheads and deep diving crankbaits on the main river around Steward Island. Caught fish all day but they definately bit better when the wind was blowing. I ended up with 9.3lbs for 3rd place. 1st place had a little over 10lbs with a 5lb kicker on a buzzbait.
