Yes. I will not use analog for anything. The digital is based of actual fuel use, typically in gph. Id also say you didnt fill the tank full either. I wouldnt trust the pump to "click" to say its full.

I had a bit of an alarm go off when I filled up on the way back from a trip. According to my digital system I felt like I had at least 10 gallons in the boat. The analog guage bounces around quite a bit but looked a bit less then 10. When I filled up I got 30 gallons in a 36 gallon tank. this is at least 4 to 5 gallons more then I would have expected.

this does also make me wonder if I totally got the boat filled the prior time but I think I did so can't explain. I won't run it anymore lower then 10 gallons.

2nd day I had my boat I ran it out of gas with the gauge showing 3/8ths of a tank.
I now use the gauge as a sort of dummy light. When the needle starts moving around alot, I know I'm getting low on fuel. Other than that I note how much I put in and how much I run

I always go off of fuel used and fill it up to what it said was used. Have my SHO hooked up to the humminbird units for motor info and fuel usage.

Well now I have to go fill up the tank and rest the smart craft gauge. I had a feeling the analog gauge was reading higher than it should have.

My analog gauge is reasonably accurate , and my smart craft is normally within 1 or 2 gallons

Gas gauge is a reference only. With the tank being L shaped with the narrow part at the top it can't be accurate. When full the gauge drops pretty quickly then gets to the wider part of the tank.

i think they have gotten better. My 2014 was marginal but I have not seen this level of error in my 2024. now my old Ranger was exactly what you state. Saying I'm out of gas and I can only get 20 gallons in a 45gallon tank. In that day, no fuel monitors.

This lines up with my experiences with a 721 and 921.

Mine empties pretty quick from full to about 1/2. Then it goes slow, once it drops to 1/4 I still have about 30 gallons left and it has to be way below the “e” to actually be close to being out. Pretty inaccurate compared to my old ranger. If I ever go somewhere fuel level really matters like Canada, I make sure to reset the merc monitor.

I have no idea how accurate the gauge is on mine. Bought the boat used and when it gets below a 1/4 tank I usually add 15-20 gallons and that puts it between 1/2 and 3/4. I don't think I've ever filled it up. Lakes around me aren't big enough that I need to carry that much fuel.

The Merc monitor is much more accurate than the stock gauge. When I fill up at the same pump mine is usually less the 1/2 gallon off. I don't use the gauge at all I just set my Merc Monitor to fuel used and count down to know how much I have.
