    ram 1500 oil change

$113 for oil change at dealer yesterday. They wanted additional $163 for air filter and cabin filter. I went to autozone and bought both filters for $54. So easy to change and saved over $100. That’s ridiculous but now I can place an order with tackle warehouse

I changed the oil in my F-150 5.0 on Monday. Two five quart jugs of Mobile 1 and a filter were $90 with tax from Autozone. It used to cost about $60.

Doing a large list of service to my truck right now. Oil change, tire rotation, state inspection, rear brakes, coolant flush, full 4WD service, trans flush, spark plugs, and other small odds and ends. But my service writer wanted to charge $200 for both air filters and windshield wipers. I said no I can do that myself. Not excited to see the bill

Don't buy your oil from the parts stores, they are ridiculously high. Sams has Mobile 1 on sale for 33.99 for a case of 6 quarts. I buy mine when sams runs it on sale. Also watch at walmart. Some times they sale the 5 qt jugs for like 25.00.

The local Ford Dealership changes the oil and rotates the tires on my F-150, $59.99+tax.

I’m with you. I keep a large quantity of 5 quart jugs for the fleet of Honda’s at the house. I drained the truck and grabbed two Mobil 1 jugs at the end of the row to discover it had used oil inside that I neglected to take in. I had already drained the oil, so I had to go to the closest place for the oil because of time.

I had the oil changed on my Shelby at the Ford dealer a few weeks ago and it was $165. Funny story an older car porter guy over 50 years old had to drive it back to the service bay. He was the only guy around who could drive a manual transmission.

What year is your 1500 Jim? I just changed oil in mine (2010 with the 5.7 Hemi) and I don't consider it too tough to get to. Maybe they changed its location? I think for the filter and 7 quarts of oil it was around $60.

Gallon size zip lock baggie over the oil filter makes it a much less messy job on the ram 1500s.

That is what I do. It works pretty good. Still wish the oil didn't drain right onto the bar when the plug is pulled

The oil filter is right above the 4wd actuator. Dont let the oil drip down onto the plug or you will end up replacing it.

I changed it in my RAM 1500 one time and said never again. That was the worst oil change I’ve ever done, never seen such a mess when I was done. I buy the super tech full synthetic from wal mart. About $18.98 for 5 quart jugs and according to my research they have the big oil companies fill they’re jugs

Man that’s expensive.. we pay about $65 for our Subaru and $45 for our Durango from the mechanic down the road. Sure it’s cheaper to do it yourself but they also top off all fluids and then I don’t have to worry about disposing the oil afterwards or cleaning the driveway after.

Own a 2018 ram 1500 4x. Oil change is a piece of cake. Takes me 20 mins, tops. Zip lock over the filter trick works awesome, no mess. Oil pan plug isn’t over anything, pop that, while it’s draining get the filter out and replace, put plug back in pan. Unscrew catch can and drain, reinstall. Add pennzoil ultra platinum. Done.
