250 Pro XS 4S noise at idle

sn#2b643536 2019 95hrs 100hr service just done with plug change

Noticed the other day (before 100 hr service) a slight chirping noise at idle or kinda like someone shaking a salt shaker loudly every .5 sec. Obviously can’t hear it while under power. When first noticed it did go away after a short run but after fishing for a few hrs then starting outboard you could hear it again while idling. Went out a couple more times since first hearing it and it was present at idle each time. Everything else seems totally normal with no alarms or vessel view faults. Have not had a chance to put on water since 100hr service was performed.

Might want to check with your dealer- your engine still has two (2) open Service Bulletins.

More than likely you are hearing items that require replacement at the 3 YEAR or 300 hr (whichever occurs FIRST) service interval. These would have been due 5/18/2022- check out the FAQ Post for 4-Stroke Recommended Maintenance for details on what should be done.

In your case, the belt (perhaps even the flywheel if dampner is deteriorated).
