The last Boeing 747 was delivered to Atlas Air at CVG here in N. Ky. this week. I think it had a great run in aviation history.

Sure did.
Great aircraft for sure. Sad to see it go.
I was stationed on Guam in November 1970 when one of the first 747s landed at the airport. Pan Am was offering tours the day after it landed so we went over and walked through it. From the outside it looked like a spaceship. It was so huge. It was a very impressive plane. I wish I had been able to take a ride on one of them.
Queen of the Skies.

The 747 is the aircraft that Boeing leveraged their future on. If it had not been a huge success, it's likely that Boeing would not exist today. And yes, they are MASSIVE and a very impressive aircraft. I actually got to help a loadmaster for Atlas Air fuel one up and prep it for a flight from Copenhagen to JFK. Just a short 9 hour flight and a measly 190K pounds of fuel...lol.
When taxiing one, you have to remember that the NLG is 15 feet AFT of your seat...
I still enjoy seeing them landing .
I regret I never got to the opportunity to fly her. Had been hired, but the economy crash of 2008 killed the dream. I did get some sim time, what an iconic aircraft.

I helped to build the last 747. It left Wichita about 7 months ago.
