This has been a know problem for years if not decades. I'd like to see where all the funding they get from gate fees actually goes. I don't ever see folks in the watershed succumbing to regulation unless some drastic changes are made with county zoning laws, etc. I've been saying for years that if they don't keep up with fish stocking, the fishing on the lake will continue to take a turn for the worst (like it has the past 2 draining/re-stocking cycles) and their #1 revenue source (fisherman) will dwindle.
They have known about these issues for years and swept it all under the table as the Amish farms became larger with time. Nothing will get done as if they clean the sediment ponds out, treat the lake, it’s all a temporary fix with their pollution issues still unresolved.
The article doesn't mention the fact that a lot of that phosphorus (..and nitrogen) is in the form of raw livestock waste. You can smell it when you get back into the coves on a hot day.
