    SC lakes with rocks

Are there (m)any lakes in South Carolina with chunk rock or small boulders? I’m a transplant and where I came from, I really enjoyed finding isolated areas with softball to basketball sized rock fields. Some areas were the size of your yard, others the size of a football field. Enjoyed picking them apart. Does this exist in SC or nearby states?

I'd say just about all SC lakes have natural rock

Thanks, are they typically concentrated in isolated areas, or is it usually that the entire bottom is rocky?

You bass fishing? A large portion of fish able water is rock/clay in general. Thousands of spots like this on majority of lakes.

Santee would be the exception, which is loaded with wood, stumps etc

That’s what I figured about Santee, but that mid-high country lakes were more hard bottom/rocks but wasn’t sure.

If you are thinking of "rocky areas" similar to northern states or Canadian lakes, you won't find that in SC. If your thinking of the odd rocky shoal with small rocks and clay, that you will find. My experience is only based on the Lake Moultrie, Lake Marion, Lake Hartwell, Lake Keowee (where I live) and Lake Jocasse.

Majority of the low spots, shoals etc are marked fairly well on the newer mapping chips. But for locating that for strictly fishing purposes, its all over the place. Nothing to "target" because its so common on many lakes. 3000 waypoints if you are looking for that...LOL

Several areas in Clark Hill with rock. Mainly veins in certain areas.
This one is up near the Russel dam.

Jocassee and Keowee would be the more rockier lakes on the Savannah chain.

But there's rocks-a-plenty in most all of them.

I’m assuming Carolina-rigging was invented here for that reason lol
