If you want to turn the key and hear a beep, get a Merc or Rude. On most boats equipped with Yamaha power, the only thing you'll see is the "low oil" light come on for a couple seconds. That's the "test".

08 225 series II, it beeps every time and always has. I do have n2k though if that makes a dif.
Is it the same beep that you would hear if you pulled the lanyard?
When I turn the key to the on position in approx 4 seconds it beeps. As stated I have networked gauges, each one of the gauges has it's own buzzer so this may be why.
I have a 99' 225 vmax. When i bought it there was a beep when I turned the keyswitch.I replaced the switch a few years ago and it doesnt beep anymore. The new keyswitch looked exactly the same as the old one.
I dont miss that nasty beep from my Rude, matter of fact, I don't miss a thing from the motor as the SHO has completely erased my memory of the ETEC.
Mine used to not, but, I lost the key, replaced the switch, and now it beeps.
I think the new secret color is "A-Rig"..........

Goodmorning guys, Ive came across a problem and cant figure out to resolve it.
OK, so here it goes. I have a yamaha 250 ox66 2002, it starts right up when it is cold, but as soon as I shut it off and try starting it up when its hot, it wont crank. Almost sounds like it wants but it wont.
Things I have done already; starting with water and varnish in the tank.
resolved that issue tank is clean no water in it.
*Changed water separator
*changed inline fuel filter and filter right before mechanical pump
*Changed VST filter, and found out had a faulty Electrical fuel pump (Changed)
*Changed all three of MMechanical pumps
*Check Valve (Changed)
*Clean and serviced my Fuel Injectors
*I am premixing 50:1 oil pump and tank NOT CONNECTED
*Took spark Plugs off were SUPER black meaning its running rich I suppose?
*Changed all 6 spark plugs
*O2 sensor not replaced but took off and checked not too dirty
*Also I have black Crap coming out of my exhaust in the prop
It sounds like the engine is getting more fuel than needed and sounds "flooded". Would like some help here pleaseeeeeee, Before i just SINK MY BOAT and cure all my headaches LOL :bashhh:
If mind beep I can Here it ,anything above 6000 db i'm out of luck. A beep on any kind of equipment is useless to me unless they are like 2020 Ram Ecodiesel that has park sensors that have a different tone and you can set them loud enough for me to here I've had the hearing lost for many years, might be because of all the years in the military.

It'll give a steady tone before start up if the engine harness is bad. Yes, the kill switch was in.
Engine has about 40 hours on it.
Tight lines!
