    Motor started on its own

I have 2022 ranger 520r with a 250 proxs. I bought it new last November. Is been in the shop twice for ride system updates. It’s been working fine the last few times out but last weekend while just fishing along the motor started on its own. I’m not sure if this is a common issue with the mercury or if it’s a ride system thing. I’m taking it in but figured maybe I could get some insight as to what needs to be done about that. I always turn the battery switch off when it’s being stored. Hopefully that keeps it from happening in my garage.

I pull my kill switch before I leave the lake. I have heard stories of motors starting on their own before and I believe it has to do with keypad issues / failures. Obviously, my boat / motor is much older than yours so not sure, but I don't think turning off the main battery switch will prevent the motor from starting.

You can check it by bumping the key one notch with the battery switch off and that will tell you for sure.

My boat has two breakers that I open up when I’m done fishing, one trolling motor one for the boat electronics and pretty much everything else on the boat. the engine will start if the main switch is turned on, but the two breakers are open—did it once in the garage and it scared of crap out of me. Lol

my '22 R did that as well ... 2-3 times. Its a Start Button software and maybe hardware thing, Dealer knows about it and will swap out under recall.

I'll flip the trolling motor breaker and turn the battery switch to off/charge every time I come off the water but I do not trip the breaker under the battery switch. The trolling motor breaker obviously takes care of the trolling motor but with the battery switch to off/charge, I have no power to anything in the boat including the motor.

My motor and auto bilge pump is wired directly to the battery, no breaker. However, all my electronics, pumps, and lights are on the master switch. Some are this way and some not. You'll have to check yours. I'd get that checked out PDQ so it doesn't start on you when you're not around to shut it off !!!

Depends on how the boat is rigged . Mine has power with the breaker off so my kill switch gets pulled clipped to the steering wheel when it’s not in the water

Correct, a known Ride system issue.

I’ll let everyone know what they tell me. I love the boat but this will be round 4 to the shop. They’re quick and do a nice job but still a pain in the a$$.

This is what has kept me from buying a new R boat.
Ranger has had the Ride System out for years on
their walleye boats and still cant get it right. My
520c has not had any electrical issues at all and I
    still like it.
