    Bobcat

Just got home from my 10 hour round trip to Bucks Island Marine. Captured me a Bobcat. I will try and get it dialed in the next few weeks and return with some numbers. After the demo ride I feel that consistent mid 60s is obtainable.

Ran 61 with me + 2 passengers and all of my gear. I will say thAt I am really disappointed in the trailer. It is made out very small channel. When I put the motor totter on it the trailer the frame bowed in a lot. This trailer want last more than 3 years in the brackish water where I fish.

Sounds like you got the 3" channel instead of the 4".

Should have done some homework before buying.

brackish will ruin any steel trailer I bet

Brackish water needs an aluminum trailer.
Perhaps try to sell this one for what you can get and have BassCat build you an aluminum one.

An aluminum trailer would be great. I priced one for my Sabre last year and single axle was around $7800. If I could just get the frame and put the detachables from steel trailer on it that would maybe save some on the price.

The cross bar where the motor toter connects is meant to flex. I have an aluminum trailer under my cat so I understand what you face. Still, it is a C-channel and if you rinse it after use it will last longer then three years. My boat is similar in colors. Same on the side but black boot and all white cap.

My 3" Margay trailer should be the same as the Bobcat. I've had it since 2015 and have trailered it from lake fork Texas to the U.P. of Michigan. I've been all over with it. It has worked great and never left me stranded. I finally had to replace the tires just this year. I will say the little cross bar in the back did worry me and I do not use the Basscat recommended type of motor toter. You should be able to get many years out of the trailer. I've never put it in brackish water. I don't know what that would do.

So far I am getting 61mph loaded fishing gear, an adult passenger and a full tank of gas. I am running a 25 tempest around 6k rpms and its set at 4" inches below the pad. thinking about droping it a 1/4 inch and see what happens. I might try to run it with no passenger first just see what it will do.

If those numbers are right, you could probably reduce slip some. That's coming out to 11%.

Man, I love a blue boat.
There was a time that I didn't fish but I cannot remember it.

PMantle....are saying dropping it down will reduce slip??? I am surprised that it has a good whole shot with the 25 tempest, but seems to take some time for the bow to pop up.
Thx Macsimus I am also a fan of blue. Christened it this past Saturday with a nice 6-2. Not too bad for south of Interstate-10 in south MS.IMG_1668x.jpg

No, I mean, not necessarily. I think your slip is a little high, and I do not know why. If you do drop it, and thereby reduce slip(not saying you need to) then you may have to drop pitch. That engines gear ratio is new territory for me and have no history on it. My Margay had a 2 stroke, so my experiences won't help a lot other than to tell you-those hulls will plow under weight, and you need as much lift as possible. While a Tempest was super efficient on mine, it struggled when the boat got heavy.
