1997 25HP Merc oil from prop

I have a 97' 25HP Mercury that hasn't been started for about 2 years. I got it out and added fresh gas, put the muffs on it, and had to prime and turn over for a while but it started and ran good. a couple days later i noticed black oil coming from prop. Did a prop shaft seal go bad while sitting? Or is this exhaust oil crud from sitting? i guess i will drain some gear oil out and check it, but i wouldn't think it would be black?

If it's dark its likely unburnt 2 stroke oil. Normal of its bluish, then od worry about prop shaft seals.
