    Considering a change to lithium

Got a '99 21xd. Getting close to time for trolling motor batteries and I'm considering switching to lithium. I'm running 2 type 31 lead acid now, so I would lose a considerable amount of weight on that side. I'm running a 31 agm for cranking and electronics on the other side. I'm not balanced very well now, with an ultrex and a triple mount with 3 units at the bow. How much do you think losing that weight at the stern will effect it?

Killed my 20….all lithiums and 2 graphs and 36 Ultrex up front. Not the boat it used to be.

Last year I put an ultrex on my boat. This year I put these lithium batts in and they are awesome.... Bluetooth, Self heating, SOC indicator on top...

Mike...how'd your boat run with the weight changes?

I have not run it hard yet... My boat was best with a 12in setback. I went to 15in 10+ years ago. I had no gain on top end, but holeshot was slower. I think now that I removed the heavy batteries, The 15in jackplate may be helping me. I'm not sure.

13 21XRD, did the same. Lost a little when I went to a 36v Ultrex, lots more weight on the front than the old MG's and weight that far forward matters a lot. Then went from 3 lead/acid to one 36v li, lost 2 MPH. You called it though, these girls need balance to run like they can. Haven't done that yet, need to get that done and I bet I find the MPH again.

2013 21XRD here as well. I'm running a 24v 50ah Ionic for my Garmin Force with 2 transducers on a LiveFoot and an Epoch 100ah for my electronics on the port side and X2 AGM with Raptor pumps starboard. Hard to get balanced but runs good

It's just strange, because speed is thrust to weight, you would think that less weight, more speed

I haven't gone lithium yet, but considering it. I can say my 24/45 ultrex, target lock, 360, and units up front turned my RDC into a mid 70's cruiser lol. I've still got 4- 31 series in the back with a 4 bank charger and 10' raptors plus pumps. I was good until I added nose weight and hole shot is still pretty good but getting her out of the water takes time on top now.

I’ve got 1 40ah 36v for my ghost on my XRS and I can fish 2 days solid and be good. That was before I put an on the run charger in now it’s nearly at 100% every time I put it back on the trailer. I never even plug it up when we stay at hotels for tournaments anymore.

My boat runs better with lithium batteries, 3 ionic 50's , with all the extra space in the rear I moved my tool bag and a few other items back there , in the cranking battery compartment I put a Plano holder ,all the heavy planos back there. If I run solo the boat will lean to my side if I don't move weight to the compartment behind the passenger seat. Between the less weight out back and jackplate ext filled with foam she comes out of the hole amazing, on the batteries I have fished 10 hrs and the batteries say 80%+ still left, been 3 years everything still good. I would say moving weight around to get it figured out is important to get it to run and pretty easy.

I have 2 100AH lithiums and still have 70%-80% left after a long/hard day of fishing.... I'm thrilled with my batteries. Only takes 2-3 hrs to charge them back up to 100% with a 10 amp charger.... Crazy!

And my trolling motor has more thrust from the extra 2 volts all day long.

If you don't need a heater and bluetooth, They have these 100AH much cheaper ... https://www.vmaxtanks.com/LFP27-1210...ery_p_231.html

I have friends that bought these and are thrilled as well....

Seems that way but lighter is not always faster, cars, boats, etc. it’s where the weight is and like in cars…weight transfer.

I went from 4 group 31 AGM’s to a 125 Ionic cranker and 3, 50’s for trolling. Love this set up. Much improved hole shot and top end about the same after lowering my motor some. I would go with 100’s on a 24v troller.

Leebob....ordered 2 100 ah for my ultrex yesterday, and a charger. My 31 agm cranking battery is ok for now, but I'll eventually switch it out. If 125ah won't work for my electronics and cranking, I may add a 50ah and move some of my electronics to it. Stopped at the crappie wizard's shop for a seal kit for my ultrex and looked his setup over. He has a small 32ah in his rod box for his mega live and one head unit. Said he could fish 3 days before charging. Taking out 2 31 lead acid and replacing with 2 100ah lithium. Bet the old bullet leans a little...
