I have a 2015 Limited! Best truck I have ever owned. It’s towed all my boats easily.
2024 Phoenix 818, Mercury 175 (3B414035) Trick Steps, 3 Garmin 106 SV,s, LVS 34. BoatEFX dual bow mount. Ionic 12V 125AH, 2 12V 100 ah LiTime’s with Blue tooth for the TM. Minn Kota 345 PCL charger, Minn Kota Quest TM.
I've heard the 15s were a good year.

Any of the 2nd generation Tundras are bullet proof. I would look for a 2018 and newer if it were me. They are bringing a premium now though because how solid of a vehicle they are.

My 15 TRD Pro had terrible headlights and a small gas tank. My 2018 SR5 Premium was a better tow truck in every way. Both had plenty of go power, but the 18 had MUCH better headlights, and a 38 gallon gas tank. I also preferred the standard adaptive cruise on the 18. If you don't want Toyota Safety Sense get a 16 or 17. They are very reliable trucks no matter which you choose.
I have a 2018 SR5 TRD. When I was looking, ‘18 or newer was part of my criteria. I wanted the adaptive cruise. Using it with Tow/Haul mode and the radar set at 2 or 3 makes for smooth traveling. A 38 gallon tank is necessary too. I chose a Double cab verses the Crew Max because I wanted the longer bed and we are empty nesters. Mine just went over 100K and my only issue has been a headlight that the tilt feature quit working. It has literally only been oil changes and tires.

Newest version with the V8 engine, 2022 ?
My first Gen-2 ‘07 has been flawless for the last 17 years towing my boat.
I have a 2019 SR5 sequoia and what I like about it is that it has relatively modern saftey features. Not quite as good as my 2022 Highander Platinum but the core basics. Blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, backup camera, parking assist. I'd be looking for a year Tundra that had at least these. 360 camera is the only thing i'm missing but the screen in the sequoia is so small, would be hard to read it any way

Got a '20 Limited and no problems.....longest tow with boat was last year on a 8 hr. road trip to the Toyota Owners Tourney.....can't complain about anything other than gas but I also know it's not made to sip gas.....no regrets on buying the truck....
