Can Anybody give an update on real time mapping with 4.5 software and gen 3 units with a navionics card and SCL?
" If you are going to be stupid, you have got to be tough!"
An update as far as what? I tried it at a local lake but I think I was to shallow as it didn't show much. I'll be at the bend this weekend and will try it out in deeper water. Not much of an update from me......

[QUOTE=fishin couillon;8245720]Just figured it out on the unit....if i remember it was under chart, overlay....not much to it.......
Thanks for help so far but I am missing a few things in my understanding of how to use this feature.
I have seen the video and several others and cannot seem to find the answers to a few things.
I tried the sonarchart live yesterday and can turn it on, see the overlay on the unit working, but how do you save the mapped area that sonarchart live is mapping for future use and review off water, on your unit? When I turned off sonarchart live, the overlay went away and the map returned to its original form. It did not retain any of the newly mapped features. do you need to enable "log Sonar" as part of the process? How do you save the data? I have read that it saves it to your Navionics chip automatically? If so, How do you pull it up to use after you have done the mapping?

Sonarchart Live is save on you're card. The files extension end by .lsd. As Wayne pointed you need to activate FishNChip to see it.
I understand that fishnchips is sonarchart layer of Navionics chip data for Lowrance units. I had Fishnchips turned on my unit (it is always on) while I was looking at sonar charts live overlay running. When I stop sonarchart live overlay, My chart with fishnchip turned on returns to the same map that I was looking at before I did the additional logging? do you need to re-select fishnchips after every sonarcharts live session to get it to show on your screen or load on your unit?

I'm not running it now but I would say yes, you need to re-select fishnchip
Thanks , I will try it. Customer Trial and error learning is a lot cheaper for Lowrance than having good introduction notes, operating manuals or technical support for new features and capabilities.
Played with sonarchart live again today. On the 4.5 gen 3 software, fishnchips is not an option anymore. Now it is simply called sonar chart. I discovered today that once you log with sonarchartlive overlay, anytime you activate the sonarchartlive overlay, any previously created mapping is displayed. it disappears whenever you stop the overlay. Toggling overrlay on or off is the key to seeing previously logged data..
Not sure what you do when you fill up your Navionics card with mapping data?

Simple question, iv googled 1000 times!
Can I chart plot onto my lowrance basemap and save a file ?
If so can I delete the charted saved file internally?
my PC will not let me use navionics+, can I chart onto the card and make my own map?
I know insight Genesis will make my maps.

Did some more sonarchart live mapping yesterday. I have figured out that you see your previously logged sonarchartlive mapping by turning on sonachartlive overlay. This means that to view your previously generated mapping, you have to have the overlay turned on and it is actively mapping what you have already mapped if you are in an area that you have already mapped? Am I missing something here? No water depth adjustment for scl on the 4.5 software either? What do you do when you have filled your navionics card with SCL mapping? I have emailed Lowrance /marketing /tech support to get some help on this with no responce yet?

Thursday night.... Classic Champion Edwin Evers is doing a seminar on this topic. That should be VERY informative.
You can register for it...free...on Navionics.com under webinars..I plan to watch it myself. Edwin is really sharp so the info should be good and may help with your questions.

Thanks Tommy but frankly, if we have to watch Edwin Evers do a webinar to get the answers to the questions that I have on this, something is way wrong at headquarters? I personally have been waiting on this for a long time and it is very frustrating to get no new product support for the feature. This is not aimed your way, appreciate that you are doing your best to help. Neither you nor any of Lowrance's customers should be left this high and dry on a new product intro.

Hey guys! First of all sorry for my response time. Been running a mile a minute lately and seem to always be a bit behind.
In reference to SonarChart Live - as you see from my video, with Lowrance and Navionics, you can now create your own lake maps right on your unit with the touch of a few simple buttons.
Ive had the awesome opportunity to beta test this relationship for both sides the past couple months. Unfortunately it's always in-between tournaments when I'm in a more southerly climate as the lakes where I live are frozen still.....
Im still learning and I know there where a few things released now that will make more sense come the next update.
Here's what I know right this second and will surely update more here very soon. Keep in mind, this is an all new product between two separate companies. The very objective of the product is "LIVE" meaning debuting such a product and handling any potential issues is a case to case basis.
The actual ease of use is great! Make sure you have the newest Lowrance update and a new "activated" Navionics card

Simply select Overlay and Navionics SonarChart Live and you're making maps. I originally had an issue in the selected sonar on my unit was reading a phantom sonar. Still don't know how exactly but re-selecting the proper transducer and we were instantly making maps.
No, there is not yet Water Level Offset. This would be a HUGE addition I agree. Not sure if it's a HUmminbird patent deal or perhaps if we'll see it in future updates? There are still lots of additions to come down the road so hoping this will be one.
As of now, my understanding is that you'll keep 80 (NEW) hours of your work. If you pass back over, which you always should, it will not store the redundant data. Of course there's always the option of uploading the maps to Navionics as well to build an overall better product for yourself. There's times I'll choose to do one or the other. I make a lot of maps but no where near what everyone else can contribute. I want the best overall product when I'm on the water.
Im just getting back down south to unfrozen waters and will get some more hours in front of it to continue to take advantage of this sort of innovation and to better answer ALL your questions!
