Here's the full meal deal on data...Air temp 60 degrees, wind 10mph, water temp 59 degrees, elevation 1650. The only things in the boat were 3/4 tank of fuel (both sides were 3/4 full), empty livewells, 3 group 29 batteries, spare prop, a couple drinks and about 3 pounds of ice, myself (175 pounds), my daughter (72 pounds) and a dog (8 pounds). There was 1 rod with one spoon on it, no tackle, no extra stuff...nothing. Boat was empty of any fishing tackle or towels or scissors or anything. Remember this is a Skeeter ZX 250 with a 250 hpdi both 2006 year model. I was turning a 25t1, unmodified. Jackplate is set at what the factory recommends (don't remember the height). Best run was with the wind @ 5600 rpms and 70.3 mph. I think I have to come to terms that I own a sloth. </TD></TR></TABLE>

I think you need to come up on that j/p alot, man you should of seen 5800-5900 easy unloaded

    Re: Additional Factory Horsepower????? (bbnate804)

This is the ONLY Skeeter I've owned that doesn't respond to change in Jackplate adjustments for top speed/rpm. I've owned 4 other Skeeters and they all responded. I've litereally had that plate up and down on this boat and the best I can see is 100 rpm difference and about .5 mph. The difference I can see is the boat won't manuever as well in corners/turns with the plate so high...it ends up cavitating. The only way I can get the rpms to come up is sink about 1200 ft in elevation and go to Havasu. It's there I will pick up maybe two mph.

Can someone double check my prop slip please? I think my tach might be off and I'm actually spinning higher rpms...25T1, 5400-5500 rpms...69mph gps speed.

Re: Additional Factory Horsepower????? (5 keepers)

At 5500 rpm, assuming a 1.75 gear ratio, at 69 mph, you've got 7% slip... On the top of the Bullet board, and the top of the Stroker board there are prop slip calculators.. Theoretical speed for your combo is 74.. May need a stern lifting prop to get the boat out of the water better, or you've got a heck of a hook in it..

Re: Additional Factory Horsepower????? (5 keepers)

Have you tried a 26p TXP prop at all? Thats what i run on my 2004 ZX250. The best prop to date. The prop was balanced and blueprinted with PVS holes added with 3/4 plugs. Jumps on plane and just goes.

    Re: Additional Factory Horsepower????? (plbass)

No I haven't. I actually bought a 24 TXP thinking that would solve my rpm problem but it didn't. RPM's stayed about the same and speed went down. Hole shot was worse than the T1. Maybe I should try a 25 or 26 pitch 4 blade to lift the stern????? Have you tried a 4 blade on yours at all?

Re: Additional Factory Horsepower????? (5 keepers)

I ran a 25p TXP OT/4 and it was a fun prop and good under load but not much top end. I wish i had my boat here i'd send you my TXP to try. I won't have it back until January some time (fiberglass repair). When i get it back maybe if your still not happy with your set-up i'll send it out.

    Re: Additional Factory Horsepower????? (plbass)

Thanks plbass for your offer...I may take you up on that. With the holidays coming up and time off I'm going to go through the connections with a fine tooth comb, find an old tach that someone has and rig that up as a comparison. Hopefully I'll post some new numbers after the first of the year.

Re: Additional Factory Horsepower????? (5 keepers)

My zx250 is a turd as well. ALTHOUGH, It is a consistent turd.
250hpdi/25T1/5700rpm/68mph. Weight added or removed doesn't seem to affect it much.
I've tried 7 different props from 24-27p, mercs, yamaha, balistics, txp, three and four blades. And WEEKS of up and down with the jackplate.
Boat has been upside down and rear of hull/pad/strakes blueprinted.
I hear of many faster LIKE boats with LIKE motors, but, yet to be passed by one. (strange how Bubba's 80mph zx250 can't catch me?).
Also stange why my boat won't run mid 70's with a 250hpdi? I sure think it should....

SO, back to the 1st post on page one. Are there any mods that can be done to 250hpdi to increase the hp with factory parts?
300hpdi computer? or any other 300hpdi easily bolted on parts to bring up the power?
I think the new secret color is "A-Rig"..........

WHY does it have to be FACTORY????I think you guys are tripping over dimes to pick up pennies....there are mods that can be dont that wont effect/void warranty on entire motor....only will on the parts replaced like the tuner call Hydro-tec quit wineing and get some hp

    Re: Additional Factory Horsepower????? (SkeeterDD22)

SkeeterDD22...I hear your pain. I did the same thing and I notice very little difference in speed. Heck and your comment about other boats being faster, last tournament I was in there was a Basscat with a 250 merc on it that passed me...by about 1 mph if that.

Come later this month or February I'm gonna head down to Havasu and get hooked up with a dealer there who has got the software and we can run the boat on the water live and figure out what is up...if anything...I will post when I get some more data.

Maybe we have a 225 computer????????????? That would make sense. A friend of mine has a 20i with a 225 yamaha hpdi and I have seen it with my own two eyes run 71 on havasu...hmmmmm? Does anyone know a way to tell?
