    Restoring a 87 Dyna-Trak 180SS fish/ski 8/13/15 Cant believe I am still working on it

Here it is boys and I got her at a steal. 1987 Dyna-Trak 180 SS project boat for only $750.00 She needs a little work and TLC, but the hull and paint are flawless and she is what I have always wanted for a boat. I will post up better pics of the progress and I am going start on her very soon so be prepared for a flow of questions from me.

This is the boat I almost bought befor this one! Thank god the guy did not call back!

Man its hard to stop fishing on this baby. Lol. I told myself for sure the teardown is stating. I really need to do it, because the seats are all rotted out and the floor is soft in spots. Btw this little 65lb trolling motor is getting sold. Aiming for a 101lber!

Carpet was not cooperating since the boat has been through some rough times so it came up in pieces. Where is the best place to get carpet in pretty good sizes. Looking for full pieces to cut. i have to take some brown paper and make a template to get the cuts right. Floor is great, but lower floor is very soft. Wood is getting replaced in that section. Kid is psyced to get this looking nice. This has been a project put off for while. I will include pics soon.

Lots of places on the net to buy. Lots of guys on here like the basscat carpet. It's heavy grade and decently priced.

If you are still looking a panel might want to give this a try " viking panels". I have no clue about their work but another site gave good reviews. I am working with them now about some ranger panels for my rebuild.

TJ, looking good. I myself am fishing out of a 95 DynaTrak 180 STE with a 95 Evinrude Intruder 150 that has been kept in very good shape. I sure like mine & no doubt you will yours too.

Here is a fun sketch on what I want the boat to look like. what is going on in the pass side is that the woman wants a bench. So here is my idea. Put normal passenger seat in on swivel lock base, lock in sideways, add drop in seat the same direction, and have the rear seat complete the bench. I like the idea and I can get it out of there if she is not in the boat with us. what do you think?

Thanks guys! Ok here is a pic of some progess. All carpet in boat is out. I am wondering if on the sides where the foam meets the floor can I just cut the foam and lift the floor right out on the sides? I know I have to cut the front and back first. I stuck a screwdriver in and it goes down there. Well here is some more pics of progress. Finally!!

So floor is out. Bad news is there was nothing cool to find under the floor since 1987. Lol. Good news is that stringers are strong as they ever were. Cutting the new piece of floor from 1/2 marine and glassing this weekedend. Carpet will be ordered thursday. Bassboatseats.com. its a nice color. Can't wait!

Question. Would it be better to put a layer or two of glass mat or strand over the wood instead of just resin? Seems it would help strengthen it but I'm not sure. Looks like your doing a great job so far.

Thanks guys. You can do that, but its overkill. That marine ply is strong stuff and the resin was to make sure it was sealed 100% from water damage. That would be a pia too too try and lay that matting/cloth across tue whole deck.

On another topic went fishing today on it and put some carpet squares in place so it was something to walk on in the middle. It worked fine. Caught a 25+ inch pickeral. Not much doing with water temps in the 80s. :(
