Re: recess trolling motor mount for Intimidator (gamblerjewell)

If your going to install the troll well I would locate it a few inches back from where I did. I started 2 1/2 inches back and had to shave the bottom corners off the laminate at the bottom of the troll well to clear the V at the front of the hull. I think if you would start 3 1/2 to 4 inches you wouldn't have to do that. The only other thing was sawing through the aluminum cross brace about 9 inches from the front. I used laminate blades for the jig saw and went through 2 blades. good luck just take your time, measure twice cut once and you will be fine. I really want to center mount my trolling mtr. so let us know how that goes.

Re: recess trolling motor mount for Intimidator (silverspook)

Centering the trolling motor was simple and it looks great. It looks so much newer and sleeker if it had wind sheilds it could fool many into thinking it was a 20 footer. I will take some pictures after I get the new carpet in it. I am doing a few upgrades on the boat this winter. Recess foot control, check, Center trolling motor, check, next carpet, then a little fiberglass work, and a Titus modified Lower Unit.

Re: recess trolling motor mount for Intimidator (flubyu)

I removed the motor from the mount and positioned the mount where it was to be mounted predrilled with a smaller bit then drill with 1/2 bit. I then inserted the rubber swelling type mounts and removed the expantion nut from bottom. I like to use nuts with rubber washers and a flat washer under these they hold better than the reg. expansion nuts. These were easy to install since I had the large hole in the deck from the troll well. The front two holes on the mount could not be used therfore I drilled two extra holes in the mount for extra support and used 6 bolts to attach the mount to the boat. I will postpics of the completed job after I get the carpet in and boat is fully cleaned up. Only two hole are visible from the original position and these will be covered with the new step material.

What kind of material are you using to cover up the old trolling motor location? did you install a bounce buster on the T.M. ? What front lights did you use and did the raise in the instrument panel cause any problems? Thanks for the help What kind of tm did you install?

Re: recess trolling motor mount for Intimidator (herk91)

My boat has a nonslip rubber matt on the triangle in the front of boat and I am going to replace it with a new matt. I am installing the fixed lights one on each side of the troller bracket. The Gator II mount has round cutouts on the top bracket that lays back toward the boat. The cutout lays perfectly over the raised panel. I did not install a bounce buster as I have never needed one before with the motorguilde mounts. It would be easy to install a strap bounce buster if one was needed though. The big washers installed under he nuts with the rubber washers helps reduce the need for the bounce buster I believe also.

The TM is a 36 volt Motorguilde 82# tour edition with GatorII mount.

Thanks Where are you getting the rubber matt? I was thinking about covering the front with a new matt to cover up the old holes after they are filled. What kind of glue can be used to adhere the matt to the fiberglass? Can't wait to see your boat when you are finished. Maybe we can all get together this spring.
