That is utterly disgusting. Any normal person has to go upside down to get into one of those. It's not just Ranger though. They're all getting out of hand.

Price is set at what the market will bear. Before boat show season is over I bet you'll see everyone's flagship at or near this price.
Somebody has the money to pay it. Instead of bashing them be happy for them and take advantage of the great buys in a couple of years.![]()
The year I bought my Ranger It was a show boat that the dealer didn`t sell at the show. I bought it two weeks later at the dealer for $2000. less that the dealer was asking at the show.
1987 Ranger 373V 150 Yamaha proV still going strong.

Its relative to how much money you have (or are able to borrow), and how important that particular boat is to you.![]()

Obviously trying to catch some boat show suckers. We all check them out but come on, we know that these are for the rich, naive suckers who come out once a year with a hole burning in their pocket to actually pay that price. If it doesn't sell you know that that particular dealership will either find another sucker or take a hit on it next year when they have to drop the price to sell it as a year old model.
Hey, you might just have created a new market: time shareing for boats. Ingenious! Everything is way too high these days. As soon as that baby leaves the dealership, whoever buys it just lost about 10-15K in the first few feet, and that's a fact that is undisputable! It is pretty though.
In the grand scheme of things who really cares? If you can afford it and thats what you want then get it. Obviously there is a market for it or it wouldnt be there. Are boat companies not supposed to make money too?

Unless a new mold is made and used for every boat made, it also is a cookie cutter . Doesn't matter one way or another to me but would like an explanation as to how any boat is not a cookie cutter and what makes a so called cookie cutter boat bad.</td></tr></table>
First: It is not bad to have a "Cookie Cutter" it is just the way MASS fabricated Boat Manufacturers are Labeled. Thus not to confuse the one off customs they ALL do for the discrimating buyer![]()
Second: The Definition of a "Cookie Cutter" in the boating industry refers to Mass Produced Hulls with maybe six color schemes and packages to which a buyer is assured to be the "Pro's Choice"
Any Unit you may see in the less than 400 a year Manufacturers Lets Say: Allison Bullet Gambler/Sterling LEGEND and Stroker have to be ordered with Details given by Buyer or DEALER in charge of Orders. Ever stop and think the person that can really afford the 70K boat ....which is cheap compared to the salt water game and a nice tow vehicle is FAR from a "sucker"? Just maybe they are a savvy business person who happens to want the latest and greatest for what ever reason.
Why can't people be happy for those folks instead of looking at them as "suckers" or in some other derogatory sense? Hell my first Ranger back in the mid 80's was 9,000.00 and it was the smallest one they made. My first Champion in the 90's was just under 20,000 and it was an 18' F/S with a 150 carb motor. Boats are toys. The only difference was back then financing five years was a long time. If a person can really afford a 70,000.00 boat more power to them.![]()
I personally would choose something else if I could afford it but if someone wants a Ranger go for it.
<table width="90%" cellspacing=0 cellpadding=0 align=center><tr><td>Quote, originally posted by whitebassboy »</td></tr><tr><td class="quote">I bought a new boat back in 2006. I had 3 boat dealers in my area. They sold Nitro, Triton and Ranger. I was looking at buying a 18.5 foot boat with a 150 optimax. Out of the three boats which were rigged the same the Triton was the most expensive (27000). It was 2000 more than the Ranger (25000). The Ranger was 2000 more than the Nitro (23000). I decided to buy the Ranger. When I told the dealer the color scheme I wanted he took me out to look at a one year old 19.5 Triton that he had just got and I ended up buying it. It comes down to this. Price of a boat depends on how much profit the dealer wants to make, and how much stuff (depth finders, power poles, etc.) that we add to it. You can take pretty much any 21 foot boat and deck it out to the point that it cost 60-70k.</td></tr></table>
You would be amazed at how little that can actually be.....I will quote one Manufacturing GURU that told me....."We will continue to go up until we find the break point and work from there"
The increase is averaged at 7% +/- a year and I promise its not going to the men and women building the boat![]()
Look around.....There are less and less dealers and nobody is replacing the ones that leave![]()
My friend just bought a new Skeeter with a Yama 250 sho. It listed at 70,000+
new..,.He didn't pay that for the rig.. It is a great boat..Look at the new Triton's...$65,000+...for a Triton...I own a Triton and love my rig but no way in hell would I pay 65K for one..The new Rangers are really nice...If folks can afford one and want one then they will pay the price..I would never bash anyone for what they purchase..It's their money and they should spend it as they see fit..Lord knows maybe it's helping the economy.. I never understand the jealousy amongst people..Just think in a few years the great deal that can be had as John points out. In bought my Triton from a pro when it was 2 years old...50% off list...imagine that..Deals can be had if you shop..
Just saying..

John, I was just putting it into sense that everyone on here understands. Everyone on here would consider someone who would pay that price for that boat a sucker when most on here know you can usually find these exact rigs for around 56K rigged the same if you just know where to look and how to search the market. If you wanna pay 70K when I know of at least two places I can go right now and walk out the door with that rig for around 56-60K then be my guest. Ignorance is bliss in this case. Im not here to judge how a man spends his money but don't we call a man foolish who doesn't research and find his best odds/opportunity when its so easily available?
I guess you'd essentially be paying 8-10K for convenience in not having to cll two other dealers for a price. .

Since the same company owns Ranger, Triton, Champion, & Stratos, I wonder if they came up with a marketing campaign where the boats are priced in some sort of increasing price. You would have an entry level, a mid level, and the premium level.
So you could buy the biggest Stratos for 15-20 less than this Ranger, or maybe the Triton would be the poor mans choice?
