This 250 HO experience has been absolutely flabbergasting! Seven props and I'm still not getting the performance I expected. The holeshot has been a real issue. A 26 Raker II with light load does fair, but, add a partner and fill livewells and the partner has to get on the deck and 9 secs later you get on plane. I've tried 7 props (26 raker II, 28 TXP, 27 Tempest, 28 Trophy B & B, 24, 25 & 26 Fury and a foil. All the Fury props solved the holeshot problem. The 24 Fury had way to many rpms and poor speed (61 @ 5800). The 25 was better with 65 @ 5800 and the 26 is 5 sec holeshot, 67 mph @5800 (72 @ 6200. In the summer the best I found was the TXP with a foil and lowering the motor. It would run 72 @ 5900 rpm and a 5 sec holeshot. I haven't tried it since the cooler temps have arrived. Right now I have the 26 Fury with the motor set as high as I can get it on an 8" JP. The motor can be raised one more notch but I am not sure that would help as I can max the rpms where its at. The most encouraging report I have had is from a guy who was having issues with the new '10 power head on his '08. He said the new powerhead didn't give him a holeshot and he lost topend. After drilling the 24 raker holes he then had the fastest Ranger on the lake. My next attempt will be to drill the holes on the Raker II. Have spent $2150 on props and still not satisfied. Good news is next spring I'll have some cash flow when I decide what prop to keep and which to sell!
Ugh,
