An update: This morning my daughter and SIL crossed into a Canada at Queenstown, NY bring up the new flooring for our cabin. They declared it, were pulled over, went inside and paid $89.00 CAD in duty and were back on the road within a few minutes. No muss, no fuss.

I crossed at 3:30 am Wednesday. Only one lane open 2 agents in the booth guy and gal. Three questions, then I told them jokes for a few minutes….had stopped a duty free, and as a solo, over purchased a bit on booze; did not ask or also about the two cats walking around in my vehicle, nor check plates on boat….EZ PZ!

I called ahead of time and the agent asked where the flooring was made. Since it was made in Vietnam, no tariffs applied but would have had it been made in the US. We got the flooring at cost from the company where my SIL works.

Wow, the politics is getting real. I thoroughly enjoy my summer/fall trips in Ontario. I have nothing to hide at the border, and appreciate the efforts of the agents on both sides to do their jobs as thoroughly as possible. To me it's a privilege to go into Canada to have a few weeks of quality bass fishing.
