well just got home, my biggest was 4 3/4, but can't wait until next weekend !
So how is the bouy marker situation, I heard a while back that several had broke loose. Is this true ?
Just James
Ran around the lake this afternoon before the Super Bowl started and there are a lot of bouy markers gone in the marked runs on the Texas side. Carrice Creek, Sunshine Boat Lane and the Palo Gauch Boat Lane all had markers missing. I sure am glad the water is up as high as it is or else someone could get into some trouble out there. I understand the SRA's bouy crews have been working on getting these straightened out but it's going to take some time.
Fishing was poor today as the water temps were from 44 degree to 49 degree brrr.....that's cold. I saw one fish caught and he was small, guy was tossing a split shot rigged baby brush hog in a red and black color up tight to the bushes, that was it for the 3 hours I was on the water. Did I mention that Saturday morning there was ice around the shore in several places in the shallows, it got down to 25 degrees here in Hemphill but it is supposed to warm up a bit this week.

I called SRA about the bouy system problem and they was going to call the texas side about there's too, but it would be nice if everybody that fish Toledo Bend call the SRA and make a complaint about it too.
Robert and I fished Sat morning til about 5pm, each of us put 1 keeper a piece in the boat!.His on a Jig, mine on a Heavycover Secret colored Spinny bait of Roberts!.....fished South end, water was stained pretty much everywhere we went, Did I mention how friggin' Cold it was!!!........I got Brain Freeze from running across the lake.....
All in all we had a good day, it was a pretty day, and we found some promising spots for later!......Had a Good time!
Went to Toledo the 18th-20th. The first day we fished in Housen, it
was real cold. We had one bite all day (4.5 lbs)
The 2nd day the wind was out of the south at 30+ mph. We were able to
fish in Negreet only. We managed 6 keeper fish, mostly on chart/white
spinnerbaits. Could not get them to pick up anything else.
The 3rd day was another windy day. Only managed 2 fish by 1pm.
Overall, it was a good trip. Fished lots of new areas that we hadn't fished
before. If they don't stop pulling the lake down, then we will be back at
161 soon........that sucks.
I had about the same luck last weekend.
1 fish about 4lbs.
I think I threw it in his mouth!
Well of course theres water in the Lake!...Bastage will generate as much as they can.....I believe they are down to running just one though
Caught over 20 Friday with a 6 pounder, and 12 keepers(biggest was just over 4lbs) yesterday even with the high pressure front. Fishing has been getting better in the last week.
2014 TRITON 220 ESCAPE / MERCURY 250 PROXS
Fished Saturday & Sunday. Sat. morning I had 18 by 10am, biggest 4.75. That afternoon, i had 5, nothing big. I had my better half with me so i couldn't run anywhere. Sunday morning i had 12 by 11am. One close to 6.5# and the next 5.5#. A few 2.5 & 3 pounders. Around 90% were caught on 3/8 oz. spinnerbaits and the others were caught on baby brush hogs, tx rigged. All in the coves around the Indian Mounds. Today i saw some doing the spawning dance. I spooked a monster and she never came back out of the grass. Guess she was watching me!! Now i remember why i like going during the week and not on the weekend. Oh well, it was a fun trip. Don't forget the sunscreen!!!
Ronnie
i'll be there all next week....the wait is killing me
I caught fifteen with seven being keepers out of Converse on Saturday. Started wih a texas rigged black/blue tailed lizard in staging areas leading to flats early, then switched to a white fluke in grass flats once the temperature rose. The best one was 3.5.
