Actually Long does have a public launch site but you need a 4x4 and a dry summer Its not the best in the world but there use to be one on the east end on the south shore if im not mistaken, I know where its at because I've used it, its just a dirt path in whatever is planted at the time.

I live about 15 minutes from long, loon, allard, brushy, etc and only been on'em once
