<table width="90%" cellspacing=0 cellpadding=0 align=center><tr><td>Quote, originally posted by Lea4all »</td></tr><tr><td class="quote">Im upgrading my tr-185 this season and looking at two boats...
first boat is a 2008 Z520 Ranger - 250hp - All new electronics in 2011 plus a fortrex 101 and powerpole... asking $39,000.
Second boat - New 2011 Triton 19xs - 225hp - hummingbird everything - power pole ect.. asking $38,900
Any advice? Im on the big lake alot (Erie) with my tr-186 and it runs great but need more space and speed...lots of tourny fishing...
what boat is the better deal? new or used? ranger or triton... my opinion is they both seem like a good deal but the triton being new seems to get the edge...
I like the size of the Ranger but wonered how much deck space I would be giving up if I went with the Triton...
advice would be great...
thanks

<table width="90%" cellspacing=0 cellpadding=0 align=center><tr><td>Quote, originally posted by Lea4all »</td></tr><tr><td class="quote">Still trying to work out a deal with someone on a boat... a couple guys from this forum have emailed me some great deals... very good stuff...but I am still trying to figure out the guy I am dealing with around here... unreal how this has gone... I have a cash deal for this guy on the 19xs triton along with a trade with a potential buyer in place for $2000 more than trade... deal done right... NOPE.. owner of marina calls me and tells me his guy messed up the numbers... that the list price of the boat is as low as it will go and that they have another potential buyer but were trying to figure out his credit... UNREAL. I have a check in hand and they are checking some other guys credit... plus I told them I would buy some gear and a new graph with the boat... and they try to play the "another buyer" deal... unreal... I have bought a couple boats around my way and for some reason these guys always tell everyone that the price shown is the lowest it can go... and what is even more amazing is they get away with it with most buyers... and customer service... none... you would think I was selling the boat and they were buying...
unreal...
so I called a guy a couple cities away... bigger triton...new... 2010...250 merc...only a couple grand more than the smaller 19xs... plus the guy was nice...said thanks... and genuinely seemed to appreciate my business... For all you guys buying boats... stick to your guns... if you think your being taking for a ride, you probably are... remember you are the one spending the money not them.. I cant believe I actually felt guilty for offering lower than list... never again.. lots of good sellers out there with some being on this forum... what is even worse if you knew who ran the marina I was dealing with you would be shocked...

Well there are certainly dealers out there that could care less, they just try and get you in the door and bend you over. Theres one here and I will never deal with them because they have the same attitude as you described. Ive always been told everything is negotiable and Cash Talks. Something your dealer cant understand. Id literally tell them where to go and keep looking as someone has mentioned there are alot of 20X boats out there and a few in that price range, look for a leftover 11 or a demo 11 yr model 20X or maybe even 21x...
And for 39K you need to look at that one owner 2011 Legend Alpha 211 from an Individual(not dealer) loaded out down in nashville. Its even got the SHO on it. crazy to pass that up for a Ranger... sorry Rodney.

Well the search is over... just drove home this past Friday with a showroom condition 2009 Ranger z520 with a 250 etec on the back... the guy has garaged this boat for the last year and has retired. Not a scratch...and I mean that... he gave me a flash light and wanted me to find one if I could... amazing to the eye and the boat flat out is exactly what I wanted. Also after all the bs dealing with dealers around here I bought this boat less than what they were asking for comparable or less comparable rigs... I will try and post a pic... I should call the dealer from Kalamazoo and let hiim know what I got... he sold that Triton from under me by the way.. never even called me to let me know... nothing but class...
but his lack of professionalism was my gain.. this new rig will run circles around that 19xs...
Did you give him a deposit on the 19xs, or did you just assume he would hold it for you while you were shopping around the Nation?
that is the weird part... I asked the guy if I could give him a deposit the day I saw the boat.. he said I didnt need to and that that the boat would not be sold... ok... well two days later the guy says they took a deposit on the boat after I saw it and they were giving the guy a week to find finacing.. I was a cash buyer and would have bought the boat that day but was told to wait till monday..come monday they tell me another buyer was in place?
the whole story is fishy if you ask me...
I've heard more than once that dealers of Boats, Cars & RV's don't really like cash sales as much as financed sales because they get money back from their finance companies or banks for every unit they get financed. I don't know if it's true or not.
I looked at that 19xs (if it was the silver one) and it wasn't woth the money. As far as demos go, they sell them at invoice and all the dealer makes is the rebate from the boat and motor manufacturers. As far as the problems you had with this dealer, they treated me fantastic with my trade and even though they didn't knock off any money on the demo they took great care of me on all my extras and prep. Top notch rigger who does mutliple Elite series anglers and very accomadating sales men and manager. Sorry but a sales men can only be as reasonable as is alowed by down to earth realistic expectations. I call them on a regular basis to ask questions and never have a problem getting solid info! By the way good luck with your etic tic tic booom!

And Coincidentally I just loaded up today as someone was launching one identical you yours. It looked Great. As does yours.
thanks! That is my boat... all I wanted and more...
That's a great looking rig man, congrats.
I usually buy mine from individuals as well, they are easier to deal with but lately using my local Triton dealer for all my service etc, I think I may actually buy one from them next time around. They treat all of their customers very well it seems whether you're buying a boat or a gallon of quicksilver oil.

Yep, their maintenance dept has done me right on everything I've taken to them. Never had an issue with bill padding, walking into a 300 dollar job turning into a 550 dollar job and they forgot to call or anything like that. Just drop it off, pick it up, and go fish![]()
