Okay so I didn't waste my money on the lower unit there is obviously another issue if the gear ratios are the same. Thanks
And buccaneer I was only asking because he was saying maybe the gear ratios were different and I thought by him telling me to call the gear case man and he could get me back up and running that it was a mis print and he meant to say wasn't the same.
No I guess I need to be a little clearer. You can use the gears from the Lanier junk yard, and install them in your gearcase seeing you said they are chipped. But they may need to be shimmed. As Eddie said you may not be meshing your drive shaft spline and crankshaft splines and could very well screw something up more costly. Call Eddie and see what he suggest. Most all of the V-6 cases are 1.86:1.
They make a gearset intended for the large V-4 gearcase that is 12/27 which calculates to the motors 2.25 revolutions to the propshafts 1 revolution. It's possible you have this gearset in this gearcase, however, you would take off like a bat out of purgatory, and see extremely high R.P.M.'s. It doesn't sound like this is what is happening. According to the fact you now have a one piece driveshaft, you have the wrong driveshaft length, because they never made a one piece driveshaft for the '91 and up 90* V-6's. It sounds as if your problem is timing related or throttle is not opening up. Perhaps the impact with the bottom has affected this.
