I agree, but its too bulky for me.
Here is an idea I came up with I thought I would share.
My father and I are tournament partners and he suffers from arthritis in his hands. After he lost 2 rod and reel combos in the lake, I came up with this solution.
I found these detachable Wii straps on E-bay. I connected the strap end to the butt of his 4 favorite rods with a rubber hook keeper. (a zip tie with a circle loop would work too). Then he puts the wrist strap on.
With the quick disconnect, he can switch to a different rod if needed or disconnect and grab the net.
It has saved one rod already!
