If I remember right not too long ago they put him out on a miserable day for "Day on the Lake" and he did quite well. Look at his record when he fished competitively - he was the Man. He now fishes away from the crowd and catches big fish making big money. It is the American Dream and he is a winner.

I know some of you like to poke fun and do it with no disrespect meant. But I know Mr. Dance reasonably well, and I can assure you that not only can he catch fish, but he is a wonderful human being. A God-fearing Christian man who has done everything he can for the fishing industry and has always taken good care of his family. He got his dues paid up long ago in my opinion. FWIW.

    Re: Ol Bill Dance... (GhostComanche)

I remember reading a book that Dance put out back in the 70's about worm fishing. The title of the book was "There he is". It was all about plastic worm fishing from his view. I need to dig around and see if I can find that book in the attic. It would be intresting reading again some 30 plus years later.

There was a hot debate on another board a few weeks ago about Mr. Dance fishing stocked ponds. How can anyone say that the man hasn't earned the right to fish where he wants to fish? He's over 70 years old and still on my TV twice a week. If he wants to tape his show on stocked ponds then so be it.

My wife and I met him at a show last week. He was extremely personable and I was delighted to shake his hand.

Jesus and St. Peter went bass fishing one day. Jesus backs St.Peter in the water and St. Peter pulls over to the dock while Jesus parks the truck. Jesus is gone a long time and finally appears walking down the hill. Jesus gets in the boat and St. Peter asks what took him so long. Jesus says that he was talking to a local and the bass are hitting Grass Frogs. St. Peter looks skeptically at Jesus and says, "Grass Frogs?" Jesus says, "Yea, grass frogs, just like Bill Dances fishes." St. Peter says, "It's early prespawn. the bass aren't that shallow yet. They won't hit a grass frog." Jesus says, "Hey, fish whatever bait that you want, but I'm gonna throw a grass frog, just like Bill Dance."

So, Jesus and St. Peter take off down the lake and stop on one side of a point. As they work up the bank, Jesus is throwing his grass frog and St, Peter is throwing a jerkbait. Within 50 yards, St. Peter has caught 3 fish and Jesus hasn't had a bite." Just as they near the tip of the point, St. Peter hooks up again.

Jesus is getting more frustrated and spots a stump right on the tip of the point. He fires his grass frog toward the stump but over-shoots it and his line is laying over the stump. Jesus tries to jump the frog over the stump and hangs the bait on the stump. He tries to pop the bait lose, to no avail. So, Jesus steps out of the boat, walks over to the stump and gets his grass frog loose. About this time, two ole boys are working up the other side of the point and see Jesus walking on the water to free his bait. One of them hollers "Hey, who does that guy think he is, Jesus Christ?" St. Peter hollers back, "No, he thinks he's Bill Dance!"
