I may never understand why tournament directors don't schedule a tournament using the resources given to them like the KDFW website. What a great way to successfully organize an event yet it's hardly ever used. There's nothing better than showing up for a tournament and finding out that there are multiple tournaments out of the same ramp that has parking/launching room for about half of who attends.

Re: Need Rough River help (hulapopr)

Another question guys...is this a lake that is dangerous to run in because of alot of shallow water, humps, and trees or is it a pretty safe place to run if your a newby to it as long as you stay pretty much on the main lake?

Re: Need Rough River help (BoozaBug)

There are only a couple of spots that may be a little dangerous by that time of the year but as long as you stay in the middle of the lake running you won't have any trouble. If you have a GPS to follow you won't have any trouble at all. Actually the only thing I can think of right off the top of my head is the hump at the mouth of cave creek. the top is about 8 ft deep at summer pool and the lake will only be about 1 ft down by the tourney.

With the tournament being on Sunday, I figure EVERYONE will be out there on Saturday, since there are no "off-limits"

Fished Rough on Saturday for the first time out of my boat...wasn't too good... Never seen so many shad though! However, I did cross paths with two BBC'ers I never would have even thought about seeing...small world I guess!

Oh yeah, to those two BBC'ers that offered their yards as a camping spot this past weekend - we really appreciated the offer, but with the chance of storms and the thought of sleeping in a tent with a wet dog motivated us to just drive on home that night...which worked out for the best because we fished Patoka on Sunday and whacked'em good!

It was good to see you on the water Scott. Wish i could have offered you some space in the house but it was FULL, we had 15 people in a house designed for 10 max. BTW, sunday evening I caught 3 keepers off that dock I pointed out to you, biggest was 4 lbs.

Re: Need Rough River help (BoozaBug)

I know this past weekend it was absolutely brutal. There were about 6 tourney's and boats were everywhere. The better bags were few far between and those were small bags. We had some good fish REALLY early sunday and it got really bad once the sun got over the tree's.

With about half of the board members here fishing the same tournament you are just how much info do you think you're going to get here? Ever thought just to go practice and trying to figure something out on your own?

Well considering im leaving tomarow for Cherokee and will be there until maybe sunday and i have o work all week next week, theres no way i can practice until next saturday. And to answer your question, yes,we will go find our own fish and will figure it out on our own.Its called doing all the homework you can on a new lake before you go to it and thats all im doing, gathering info. And i have gotten some great info from numerous people on this site and thanks for those of you who did.
