that is not the new grommet. In the factory accessory kit that should be installed with each M2 refitted gearcase includes new bolts, the correct length shift rod, and a new muffler and grommet assembly to withstand the increased water pressure. Ask your dealer personel to refer to the product service update book that I talked about previously.

Thanks 5eahorse---- Ran motor today, lost about 5 mph with same load and motor height. Probably can adjust height and get some of it back--- I did get 24psi on my gauge which i'm excited about--- Called tech and passed what you recommeded previously--- He said they did get the accessory kit with new shift rod and bolts which were installed--- It did not come with a new groumet, but they did order it and will install when it comes in -----THANKS!!!! I would have been totally in the dark without you, and everyone else's help that replied to my questions----This a perfect example of why this forum is so GOOD!!!!!! THANKS AGAIN GUYS!!!!!!!

I think that having to use a significantly slower gearcase on a perfomance motor is a huge step backward. Mercury Optimax and Yamaha SHO dealers can now say that, hp to hp, their motors are now significantly faster than the Etec HO. Most performance boat buyers do not want to buy the slowest motor. Remember, it takes 40 to 50 hp to get 4-5 mph over 75 mph. Poor move BRP.
