What is more important than a correct diagnosis is that I learned a lot about the fuel system downstream of the VST.

As I stated before, I am very mechanicaly inclined as I've always done my own work on my stuff prior to owning this engine, including a full rebuild on an old '78 Johnson 75 Stinger. The fuel system upto and including the VST is similar enough to the old carburetor engines that I feel I can troubleshoot (Thanks Don for helping me get that "right," not just "functional.") But downstream of that, I had no clue what was happening. With some of the details provided here, as well as what little information I could gather from other sources, I feel I have at least a basic understanding of what is happening and I can better troubleshoot future issues because of that.

Thanks again for all the help with this issue!

A wise investment is a genuine Mercury service manual for your engine, contact Rhonda for one matched to your engine serial number.
