I retired at 50 in Sept. of 1999 with 26 1/2 years of service. It was a great career but not as great as the retirement has been.

Man me too. I’m 39. I’m still planning to work some but I’ve been on a nice break for about 6 months. Sold last fall. We’ve moved to the lake.

In the education world - currently 48 (49 in a few weeks). I am eligible to retire in two years, but there is a pretty significant increase to monthly retirement pay and benefits If I stay until I turn 55 - so I am sticking around another 6 years.

I worked till mandatory retirement age of 56, but I got an extension and worked another 10 months. I started a job as a contract instructer at 61 and worked for 2 years till a medical issue popped up.

Retired at 62. Have a monthly pension through work SS and three retirement accounts. Have only touched one account. If u have little to no debt it’s not hard financially.

57 is my minimum retirement age. (49 now) at 55 I’ll have 30 years in and qualify for a full pension. I may go at 55, start a side hustle for a couple years until my pension kicks in.

Hopefully can get my wife’s bakery dream off the ground by then. She’s an RN but would quit tomorrow if we had the start up money to open her own bakery. She’s does quite well, makes almost as much as her nurse pay just doing it as a side hustle.

I went back for a short time, Uncle Sam decided to award the contract I worked under to a HUGE foreign company which drove me nuts so I threw in the towel.
You are smart to keep your license. I kept all my licenses and I am able to keep a small book of business that takes about 4 hours a week to maintain. It brings in an additional $40,000. So we have around $80,000 with social security and the insurance income a year without our pension and the money we made on the sell of our lake estate. It essentially allows us to enjoy our hobbies without getting into our pension to do it. Also it helps that we are satisfied with our well taken care of paid off older vehicles.

Unfortunately, I'll never know. I assume I'll be blue and approaching room temperature when they find me here.

My first "retirement" was at 41 from the US Navy. I am 58 now. My next and final retirement will be when I am 62 but will not draw social security until 65. I am kind of hoping my company offers early retirement buy outs again. I will be gone .01 milliseconds after that happens.

I quit working about 4 or 5 years ago at around 40. Hated my job, but it helped get us through until the wife made enough for me to quit. Now I'm a stay at home puppy daddy.

I am 64 and 5 months :) The LATEST I will work is 67. Stepchild is scheduled to be out of college by then. Wife KNOWS
I am moving to the lake when I retire as I show her listings all the time now. She sometimes forgets we got married on that fact (we have no kids)
as I owned 2 boats at time of marriage (15 years now). So my retirement will be a bigger decision for her than me LOL. 40 years service, stitched together
by acquisitions and HR policy's of honoring previous companies tenure. She retired 10 years ago.

63 for me. I had saved enough funds to tide me over easily until 'free' Medicare kicked in. Also, men in my family had rarely lived to 80 muchless past 80. So took SSN early. Never looked back with regret over these past 8 years.

Have 3 years left and will be 51 with 2 retirements and will move to the lake and let my wife know when she can come visit or if I'm coming home. Well at least ill be retired with both retirements and probably my wife's full time employee.
