A number of years back I stopped for gas in Cairo Ill. and boy houdy those folks had a major accent. Sure took me by surprise.

Coming from Wisconsin everybody in every other state has an accent
There's lots of decaffeinated brands that are just as tasty as the real thing.

    1000 %

I can pick out where someone's from in the South by their accent. SC is very specific, AL is very specific, TN is very specific, etc.

Trey's sounds like a SC accent, which is strange because if he had ANY accent at all it would be more like a KY accent. Even when he's talking he'll say a word such as "like" and draw out the I, then two sentences later he'll say the same word but forget to draw out the I. Listening to him try to fake it is comical to me and some of my buddies.

I think Midwest Southern is what we coined it last time we had this argument. Let me know when you figure it out. I am from same area and have an accent as well. I would like to finally know what accent I have.

What’s Weird is that two High Profile Bass Fishing Media Personalities like Zona and Sanders have to make fun of some of a young man’s accent to fill out their podcast.

Carbondale, Illinois is only 65 miles from Paducah, Kentucky and as someone who has lived in Southern, Illinois, been to Western Kentucky, Southern Missouri, Northern Arkansas numerous times.

I don’t find a Southern Accent in that specific geographic location as unusual, fake or weird Zona and Sanders must be reading the BBC to get some material to fill up their podcast and get clicks.

Calling Scott “the fall guy” is the last way that I would characterize him!

My brother has lived in Normal since college at Illinois State and his wife or family does not have any discernible 'Southern' accent at all, at least to me, a city boy from Chicago. But I know Carbondale is much further South from Bloomington-Normal, just above the Kentucky border as mentioned.

I am a Normal transplant due to Illinois State marriage. Been here for about 15 years. Lived majority of life in southern IL. There is a definetely a difference between the too. I did not lose my accent with my move or marriage however!

Just reporting the Cliff notes. Post a comment to Zona.

I do wonder why, if these guys have suspicions about cheating or info do they wait years before protesting or saying something?
I believe it was Feider who said “it’s been going on for years” referring subtlety to Martin.

I suspect there’s more to this back story than is getting out to the public.

Just to clarify one point. To have a Southern accent you have to be born and raised blessed child of the South

Agreed - My old stomping grounds back in the day... I'll assure you that Trey's "accent" is 100% authentic to the rural area of southern Illinois. It's about as redneck out there as you can get. People need something to manufacture drama... they can't help themselves.

That is correct. IMO some of the other accents like mountain, hick, western, etc. etc. are being confused with a southern accent.

Do you consider Paducah, KY the south? Does it qualify.

Accent wise, no. It's kind of in a transition zone between southern accents and northern accents

Oh he wasn't being subtle at all, "one of them has been doing it for 30 years and it's not Matt".
And then you have Milliken calling him a **********, Hackney and others saying he didn't self report at the big O etc.

As in, this was the result of a rules change with intended targets, along with a pseudo-“sting” operation aimed at Martin?
