If I don't use it, it's gone. I try to not carry things I don't have confidence in. One of the benefits of this is I can always justify trying new things especially if I am going to a new lake.

You wouldn't believe the amount of tackle in my boat, it is zero . I carry tools raingear, lifejackets and small box of things like zip ties, tape wire connectors and fuses and relays for trim motor and other things like that. My tackle is in a bag that consist of 5 boxes 1 for Senko's and drop shot stuff 1 for cranks 1 for toprwaters which include jerkbaits 1 for bottom baits like jigs and worms and ned rigs and carolina stuff and 1 for spinnerbaits and buzzbaits and chatters that is it . reload it after the trip with the desires soft plastics and never run out of stuff usually . That bag goes with me when I fish in my partners boat also I carry 8 rods tops in my boat and 4 to 5 in my partners depending on where we are going...and time of year might change a few things in different boxes has worked for me the last 10 yrs so why change
1990 374V Ranger Still kickin' bass after all these years
I can fish my style with 3 or 4 small 3500 size boxes of tackle & a few packs of plastics. 3-4 rod/reel combos tops .
Anymore I don’t focus on quantity of tackle but I do buy more high end quality when I shop.
I did that last spring. By fall everything was back in my boat.
I tried that and wouldn’t you know I wanted to use something I took out of the boat I filled it back up.

I am under the opinion that unless it sinks the boat I don’t have too much tackle evidently!![]()
I recently took my boat to have some work done on her and 50% of the stuff did not make it back in the boat! My boat now runs 10 MPH faster especially with all those Senko's out of there! It's crazy how many rods I would have in the boat at all times and never really used half of them!
I've been told that you'll spontaneously erupt into flames if you don't carry 100+ pounds of useless crap in your boat. Better put it all back in before you turn crispy.
There's lots of decaffeinated brands that are just as tasty as the real thing.
Hi Mike.
2023 Xpress H18 with 115 SHO that's optioned to fit my wants and pulled by a little Ram.
Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. Just smile and walk away.
I start off every season like this.. only 1/2 my crap in the boat.. By the time I get through 3-4 fishing trips. I'm back loaded to the gunnels again.
I’ll suspect you catch just as many fish post purge!

You guys should try packing light as a co-angler in someone else's boat on a musky fishing outing...

I feel like I am trending the opposite way. Each year I try to stuff my boat with more and more. And do I use half of it? Of course not.
I may start the day Bass fishing then switch to Stripers with boards, and Down Rods to Down rigging. May check out the Crappie bite for awhile then do some Walleye trolling and maybe check the Catfish bite if it looks good. At any one time I'll have the tackle for the job at the time. The Lund has a place for all of it with no problem, it's a "fishing boat".
Just reading this thread is giving me anxiety. I just sold my last boat early March so I had pulled everything out and went through a culling process to whittle down all baits, both hard and soft. At the end of that process I felt like I still had way too much. My new boat is larger than last with more storage and when I loaded everything into the new boat, it feels like I'm using only about 1/3rd of the available capacity. My fisherman's brain is funny insofar that I know how unlikely it is to need everything I have in the boat, but it brings a level of irrational comfort knowing its all in the boat. When I consider taking something out, immediately my thoughts go to...."what if xyz situation arises and I find myself needing something...."
