I hated the call to wash up for supper (dinner) but I knew that I had better run to the back door! We lived outside playing sports or games we would invent.

Mine would get a lot upset. You better not miss supper . I was usually over on the other street where my friends lived. Summertime, you come home, eat, go back as long as you're in at dark. Many times I would eat supper at my house, then eat at my buddy's house.

Every kid needs, needs, to be able to see the horizon for at least at least 4 hours a day.

    Are you a kid?

My friends had a waterfront house on Lake Conroe. Their kid spent everyday inside playing video games. He graduated from the University of Alabama, is a successful engineer and is marrying a hot lawyer.

100 percent true! And in the summer the bottoms of my feet had to be scrubbed to get the grass stains off.

I was always in trouble for not coming back on time.! I would sneak off to fish in the Ohio River and usually got in big trouble for going by myself.!

Ah the good old days. Most kids today are Couch potatoes with their stupid cell phones. Thanksgiving last year I told my niece She hadn't changed a bit she why is that? I said the last time I saw you; you were doing the same thing texting with your friends.

Yeah, we were allowed to have pocket knives, sling shots, and BB guns. But if you did something stupid with them you got your ass tanned.

My mom's golden rule was that I had to be home by the time the street lights came on. I pressed that rule to the limit many of times.

Yep. That was the rule at our house as well. Summertime was so awesome back then. If I wasn’t cutting grass are doing other chores, I was fishing with my brother, playing ball at the nearby empty lot, or just piddling in the yard or shed.
