I can't think of one thing that the State of Michigan has accomplished that is worth duplicating nationwide. It sure isn't quality of water, schools, or infrastructure.
Well....decades of mismanagement by who controlled the legislature until a year or so ago won't change overnight...
Things have been going in the right direction...The retiree tax that was implemented by the last regime has been overturned and lots of road construction going on..

Our EV powertrain lines are still working 24/7 ...Made more money since the transition to Electric on OT than I ever have..Of course just like Ice vehicles that can change with a drop of a hat..

$7.5 billion to build tens of thousands of electric vehicle chargers across the country, Two years later, the program has yet to install a single charger
I saw that. Just more government waste.

For $12/year I get access to every state park and boat launch in the state. That works for me. I'm not going to get political as to the original intent of this thread.

Yep. They sold something like 650,000 ICE trucks in 2022. Lightning sales have a Loooonnnggg way to go.

Not to mention the State currently produces less power than it uses and is shutting down more coal plants and replacing with solar power in one of the cloudiest states in the country. Maybe the windmills will make up the difference?

So here's the other side of this coin. They are going to need a lot more on-demand infrastructure to support the charging stations all these EV's are going to require. Real generation horsepower comes from coal and natural gas which will, by then, be restricted into extinction. That means they will need to compensate all that demand with Solar and Wind.

Solar and Wind are not peak demand generation sources (not like the Natural Gas peaking Stations we have today.. you can't "spin-up" a windmill or solar panel.) so you're going to have to either store it somehow (fuel cells perhaps..) or regulate charging consumption by mandating who is allowed to charge, and when (imagine the fights that will cause...). Everyone can't come home from work and plug in at the same time. (Especially when the sun's not shining..)

This cost will be huge, perhaps much more than the cost to manufacture the EV's and for consumers and businesses to switch over their ICE cars & trucks. So there is probably more work here(that is not discussed in their proposal) for Michigan's Utility Industry to support all this. Electric rates could skyrocket.
