I fished with a guy on Lake Hartwell that used one a few times when he snagged in standing timber. It worked well the first couple times and I was impressed, but finally it didn't and he had to break off. I would still consider trying them.

I have a money pole, I think it extends to 16 or 20 feet, it has paid for itself 10 times over.

My money pole has saved me from breaking off many times. It has also saved several lures that were up in trees.

That's a good idea. I wanted one of those a long time back but the price was too dear for me back then. Seems like they used to cost more. Maybe, my idea of 30 bucks has been re-evaluated.
About 20 years ago, I made one out of a painter's roller extension pole that I put a hook from the hardware store. It only extends about 8 feet but it's sure get a jig off a stickup or spinnerbait out of a tree.
    Don't worry Ma'am....

Learned about it from local muskie anglers originally, and it's since been latched onto by the guys throwing $500+ swimbaits that are only available on drops and that sell out in seconds. If it's good enough for them, it's gotta be good enough for just about anything.

I carry three types, the lead weight with snap, the Lure Hound and a Money Pole. That Fishman one I'd put in place of the Hound. My process is to start with the "bow-n-arrow" trick which works a lot of the time, then the lead weight and at that point I may give up cuzz using the pole and Lure Hound aren't easy.

I started out with the Fritts retriever but as uncoordinated as I am I seemed to only be able to put that one on the line, backwards, so I threw it away.

^^^ This is what I have rigged on an old Abu Garcia reel with the butt end of an old rod with rope on the reel.

Save your old spark plugs, bend up the electrode, attach a snap swivel, bend electrode back down... nearly free lure retriever!

I have used a few and the Daiwa Lure Retriever is the best I have found hands down.

I’ve been using a 18’ pole for years. If I can reach it I’m probably 98% successful.

I'm happy to know that, Amazon just delivered one to me. I've always had about 98% success with my little 3 oz. "Pocket Rock" but I've already lost one A-rig this winter and hope not to use another.
