Crystal is fine.... that's where I put in today. Never heard of Lena....place sucks for me so far unless you like catching a ton of Kentucky's with a random largemouth mixed in, weighing 7lbs best 5....

Lena is up on the north end around Avant area I think? My buddy had the bright idea to put in there a couple times instead of running a 16' Alweld with a 40hp from Brady all the way up there to crappie fish. I can understand why because we've been in some sketchy water on Ouachita in that boat before he got a bass boat that could safely take somewhat bigger water. He had to pull over so I could puke and then I had to drive because I got so car sick as a passenger. Told him if he wants to put in there again my ass is staying at the house because the drive isn't worth it.

Ouachita just sounds like a much bigger Maumelle right now for fish size. I sure don't turn my nose up at a steady Kentucky bite because I'm looking for a steady bite over just 5 big bites. Caught them decently well (at least 12) this morning on Maumelle but had to grind for just about every one of them over about 4.5 hours.

My advice....fish a different lake.... . Matter of fact, don't go until the temps are down and stay down for a bunch of days. It's about to get good. Shad are shallow but water temps are still low 80s at the end of the day. This next cold snap next week gonna fire em up.

Lena Landing was called Navy Landing. It is the North shores marina today.Just above Big Blakley creek I still call it Navy.

You're right. I think my buddy still calls it Navy Landing half the time because that's what his grandpa called it. I think I remember his grandpa claiming to have fished Ouachita before you were technically allowed to fish it. I know Mr. Suggs (dad of Scott Suggs) was hell on wheels out there back when he was alive and in his prime. He also just about had to pull me off an annoying nitpicky park ranger at Brady when I was young and dumb but that's a story for another day.

One time in the Lena area we were crappie fishing with at least 10 other boats in there and some guy in a Bumblebee came flying through there barely missing hitting a couple boats. I'll give the guy credit for not making more than a ripple with that boat riding so high but one wrong move and things could have ended badly. The saying goes "everything is fine until it isn't".

I put in at Lena yesterday and it's fine. If you stay on the creek channel you don't need to worry about stumps. If you're heading west once you get out on the main part of the lake be very careful if you travel on the north side. There's plenty of good fishing in both big and little Blakley though. Lots of spotted bass suspended in trees and some top water as well.

LetsfishTV this week has Mark Davis fall fishing on Ouachita. They run a week behind on the website, so it is not posted there yet, but in a week you can see it on LetsfishTV.com.

I was at Buckville last Saturday and the ramp wasn't even in the water with a barricade in front of it. Had a car stuck in the gravel tryin to get around it.

Got back last night from two days at Ouachita. Wanted to thank everyone who provided information.

We were able to launch at Lena Landing and the pick up co anglers over at the Marina office.

Stayed mostly in the Blakey arms. It’s really a beautiful lake. Like Table Rock but with grass. Really surprised how much grass we found.

Figured the cold front would have them shallower and eating, but things were pretty stingy. We caught fish. Mostly on micro jigs, senkos and drop shot off wood in 20-15 feet of water. Not a ton of fish, and nothing big. But it was our first time there and it always takes us time to figure out a new lake.

Thanks again to everyone that reached out here or in PMs.
