    System check alarm

    My alarm doesnt sound when I turn they key on, where is the alarm located so I can troubleshoot it. Lights on the gauge work just no self test alarm. 1999 stratos 285 J175PLEES Thanks, Gary

    Concealed mount or side mount? Knowing that would help, but some of those model year Stratos/Javelin have a red piezoelectric horn under the dash. Look for a purple/tan/black harness. They are way cheaper than the BRP control box horns.

    Thanks ChampioNman, I found it behind the panel under the console. I tested it with my power probe and its definitely bad.

    The System Check gauge has the electronics to sound the alarm and self-test, so either the gauge, wiring connector, or horn is faulty. Substituting a known good gauge or horn is the quickest way to troubleshoot. The horn has the plastic 2 wire connector that plugs into the harness under the dash - tan/ blue and purple wire.
