Randleman Lake Observation!

Spent the past 2 days at Randleman Lake. Pay $15 to launch at Randleman and $5 gas and 25 mins. to get to the lake. Spend $20 gas round trip to Southmont High Rock ramp $0 launch fee. Point I am making is OK I hate spending $15 to launch a boat on any lake. I also hate spending the quarter tank of gas to travel round trip pulling a Bassboat to any lake within an hour of Mcleansville, NC. That quarter tank of gas average cost now $24.00. Guess I'm saying "6 of 1 or half a dozen of another". The thing I have observed concerning Randleman Lake is the Big Bass are Gone!! There are loads of fish caught in a 9 hour bass fishing trip on Randleman but what percentage of fish are over 7#. Oh there are still someone out there that hooks up on a Chub, but not like the old days. Those Big Chub bass learned how to ride in a livewell to a different home. Again I sure don't like to pay $15 to catch 1-2# Buck bass 13-13 1/2" in length and sprinkle in 2-3 4-4.5#er. Now I ain't trying to pizz off anyone concerning Randleman Lake. From what I have heard many say this happened to many New lakes in the past. If you go to a good lake like Randleman Lake and bass fish leave those Big Chubs there take pictures record stats and what ever you want but Leave the Big Chubs at the lake. Randleman Lake is petitioning the state to allow them to regulate the harvest. If allowed to then they can enact a slot limit. IF they are succesfull it will be one of the best big bass lakes in the State. If not it will go down hill quick when those little stock fish run out.

I know Coach, Old days I'm speaking of is the time during the first part of the year before the recent closed period. I don't mean to say that there aren't any more big bass in the lake I'm saying there are very very few at all left. 4,5 and then the sizes start to drop off. I know some darn good fisherman aroiund the G'boro area that don't mind the launch fees but then I know them to say that when you pay the fee to launch and spend all day and catch 20-25 fish and only 34 measure over 14" much less 4-6#. Don't get me wrong, how many did you catch total Thursday and how many of those weighedover 6#? I hope the lake authority can do something. The fish quality is ok to me, it's the size available has not been maintained. A lot of folks aren't practicing Catch and Release. I would hate to see this lake fall from its respectable possition in 1 year. I believe, though, what ever might be done will definately be unpopular but if something isn't done in the near future then the lake will do but the days of Big Chubs will only be talked about.

That wouldnt bother me a bit. If I was keeping them I would be against it, but it would be nice to have somewhere close for a trophy lake.

Exactly what I'm saying Coach. Except there are some of the folks that came and still are comeing to Randleman that there only reason is to get trophy fish and take them to their home waters whether it is Oak Hollow or home ponds. need to get a hold on everything or we'll loose it.
