Will the motor pee while on the water hose?

Will the motor pee when the thermostat is closed while on the water hose?
    91 Johnson 200GT
I had it running yesterday and it was cold out but the water coming out the pee hole was cold and never seemed to warm up. I could touch the cylinder heads and they were just luke warm after running for 15 minutes. I havent checked yet but was courious if the previous owner pulled the thermostats. Also would this cause it to be very very cold natured?

The motor will pee. But you need to open up the T'stat housings and see if you have t'stats in there.

Yes other wise you have a chance to encounter a phenomenon known as cold lock. A hot motor meeting cold water locking the motor down.

I have a GT200 and it does take about a minute before the motor starts to "pee".

+1 ChampioNman once again is right as rain... Cold seize is a condition that occurs when cold water meets a hot/warm motor.... The aluminum piston expands with heat and the cylinder contracts from the cold water causing the piston to become stuck in the bore...

Got to fill the block up first. You have an 8 gallon pressure cooker and it has to fill up. Before you start cooking you have to get the grease hot.

Wow, 8 gallons? I had no idea that cooling system was that large! That explains why it takes a few to get it to pee. Thanks for the info as usual.

I actually get mine to pee on the muffs without the motor running. If you have enough pressure in the hose..... never mind.

    Gutter rat!!!
Actually they will pee a little until the block fills up and pressurizes, then you will see the stream get stronger.

I have an 88gt200 and have never been able to get it to pee out of the pee tube, while running on the muffs. I have pulled it to a local pond twice because of worry, and it would start peeing water out after about 30-60 sec. I have noticed the water hose going to the muffs getting a little flat at times and would shut the motor off. Maybe I don't have enough water pressure.

I've seen that happen before, and had a motor give an overheat alarm because of it.....Gotta have that water...

It has never alarmed because of overheat, but the heads do get HOT. I change impeller every year and new thermostats every year. It even gets hot on the lake while running, never an alarm. So hot you can not lay your hand on them. It has always had a small stream of water until idled up. I have it done at a shop and they say it is ok. I had the carbs rebuitl this past year. It runs good, but I do worry about water. I also had a water pressure gauge installed, it has never showed over 14lbs and doesn't even read at idle. The alarms do work.

I get the same readings on my guage. I will read maybe 1-2 at idle but never runs over 15-16 psi even at 6200rpms.

Re: Will the motor pee while on the water hose? (red devil)

I was doing a decarb on my today and had to run the hose about 30 feet to the muffs, hooked them up and walked back and forth to the boat after turning on the water. After the engine started it took about 15 seconds for it to fill the engine block and start to "pee", now it had already been filling up the engine for about 20 seconds or so while I was walking back and forth. I have good water pressure at my house so this seems normal to me
