New to the area / Chapel Hill area tackle stores

I recently relocated to the Chapel Hill area, I'm about ~10 minutes from the Farrington area on Jordan. Looking forward to getting out on Jordan, Harris and Falls (hopefully starting this week.)

Quick question: Are there any decent tackle stores in the area? Looking for a place that has some good high end stuff, more than just bobbers and minnows...

    See you on the water

Bill Poe's in Staley. I'm sure there are other places also, Neil should know of some.

sounds good.... I'll check it out when I am headed that way. I saw that Dick's driving around but haven't been. Trying to fine something more mom and pop with some harder to find items. I have been up to Greentops and Bobcats but way too far to go to regularly unless I am fishing up that way. Looking for something similar around here.

On a side not, I went down to Harris for 3 hours today. Beautiful lake. Without having a clue where I was going I caught 8 and missed a few more. None of those Harris hogs but fun for tyhe first time. Awesome looking lake I want to head back soon.

In the first 5 minutes I caught this fish and had to take a pic, I thought it was very fitting that the my first fish in the power plant lake had a curly cue tail. It wasn't glowing or anything though. Really the pic doesn't do it justice the tail was crazy looking...

The Tackle Box in Fuquay off of hwy 55 is a pretty nice little shop. Lots of good lures and plastic. Has high end reels, pretty limited in rods though.

I 2nd Bill Poe's....makes doggone good rods and has a nice tackle shop.

The Tackle Box in Fuquay.....Really good spot. Chris, the owner, is a real standup guy. I was one of his first regualr customers when he opened. I had a job that put me in Fuquay daily and it was hard not stopping in daily. If he does not have it....he can get it....quick and cheap. He even gets stuff from BPS cheaper than what you get it from BPS....go figure....

One more thing...as high as gas is....check with the Sponsors on the BBC. They have some great product, service is 2nd to none, and you don't have to drive to hunt for it.

I will be hitting Falls hard Sept - Nov.....I'd be glad to show ya a spot or 2.

I have been doing most of my purchasing over the internet lately but I do like to go browse occasionally.

I would certainly be up for a Falls trip, still haven't been on the water there yet. Been staying busy between Jordan and Harris.

Does anyone know if there is a number you can call to get the generation schedules for the lakes around here like you can at Kerr and Gaston??

Falls, Harris, and jordan aren't hydroelectric lakes. Falls and Jordan are water supply lakes and Harris is used to cool the reactor. So no real significant water is moved through these lakes.

Re: New to the area / Chapel Hill area tackle stores (Driver)

Thank you. I kinda figured something like that so thats the info I was looking for. I know they aren't electric lakes so I don't know what controls the water release. I went fishing last week and caught 15 out of one creek with maybe 6-7 keepers, went back this week and never had a sniff, I mean not a sniff! I thought for sure it had to be a water movement thing but I wasn't sure.

I did notice that the water line was lower on the rocks so I figured I'd look into it. I am still scratching my head.
