If you're over propped and can't run in your recommended RPM range, will there be damage to the motor in the long run?
I have a 115 Etec that spins 5100-5200 with current prop (Solas 19).
The recommended rpm is around 5600 I think.
I'm ok with the performance, but worry about long term damage.
Over the long term you could damage the engine by overpropping. I'm not sure that you would at 5100, but most techs like to see them propped at the upper end of the rpm range.......
Sometimes just by simply changing brands can make a difference in RPM. What type hull you running it on? Pontoon, small bass boat, Center Console?
It's a Stratos 275. I tried the Rogue 17 on it and hole shot was fantastic, but lost about 4-5 mph. I want to keep the Rogue for towing the kids when tubing, etc, but would like to run the Solas for fishing (95% of the time).
But if you guys think this is a bad idea, I can keep the Rogue on which runs near the optimum rpm range.
What's wrong with a Renegade? Ever try one?
Never tried a Renegade. I need to find a place where I can try different props. What pitch were you thinking? Should I consider a 18 Raker II also?
