All the time. This Yammie is fuel injected and has an O2 sensor, so it needs something to keep the sensor clean or there will be problems later. I mix 1 oz for every 10 gallons of fuel.

I also add it to all the gas for yard work, leaf blower, lawn mower, lawn tractor, & weed wacker. Finally, once a month I add it to the vehicles. Everything gets 1 oz for 10 gallons.

If the inside of your prop is staying clean then you are cool, if it is black and you can use it to paint then you need to start using it now~!!

    Re: Sea Foam (JeremyL)

Right-on, Jeremy! I liked the part about the "black paint".

It amazes me that so few 2 stroke owners know about the #1 killer of the 2 stroke engine...heat. Heat is caused from the burning of oxygen, gasoline, and oil (creates carbon on the piston). This carbon will "weld" a ring in the ring lanyard and the result will be friction of the piston onto the cylinder wall. Once the ring is welded, it's difficult to free it (and that's why it's so important to get a compression check before you buy a used engine...it's a tel-tale giveaway that the engine wasn't properly taken care of).

Ring free, sea foam, engine tuner all help to remove the carbon build-up before it becomes a problem. (In my opinion, sea foam works best...and I've used them all.)

Jerry isn't ring free made by yamaha and is sea foam better? I have a 07 225HPDI and have always run ring free in it.

    Re: Sea Foam (bassmanbutch)

Butch, the main thing is that you use one of them! Keep using Ring Free and you'll be ok for years.

    My opinion:
Ring Free works ok. I used it for the first year. It is recommended by and made for Yamahas. Now...

Look in your prop hub and tell me what you see. Do you see that black soot-looking stuff? That's carbon! Try Sea Foam for four trips to the lake and then look in the prop hub. Most of that black stuff will be gone. Besides that, Sea Foam is a fuel stabilizer and water absorbant, Ring Free isn't. This will be my 4th year running Sea Foam and one size hotter spark plug. I've been problem free.
