Has anyone noticed that johnson 150 and 175's dont idle for anyone it seems. My 2001 carb johnson 150 cranks idles low and dies upon throttle in gear or not. There has got to be a way to fix this. Its almost ridiculous how many people have this problem. a car company would recall these things. Please help me.

check your roller on the top of the engine. the rollor needs to touch the timing advance arm.

Make sure the timing advance roller is adjusted properly as earlier post reccomended and if engine has not been de-carbed add sea foam for a couple of tanks before doing a full decarb.
Mine idles like a fuel injected engine after both were done. I have not done the full decarb yet.
I'm new at this, what's a full de-carb?
Using BRP engine tuner and letting it sit overnight. What are your idle in gear RPM's and in neutral?
About 600 in neutral and 500 in gear if it will stay running long enough. I followed your advice and adjusted my timming arm and the idle adjustment next to it one click to the positive. i will try it tomorrow and maybe that will fix it. When I installed my hotfoot I adjusted the idle down with the cable adjuster to about 900. Since it has started this problem again. The previous owner had it also. The first time I took it out it wasnt as bad as it is now. Thank you for the advice.
